Featured Music Classes and Community Jams
Music is for everyone, and our academy is built to prove it. From classical vocal sessions to Western band performances, see how our students and teachers come together to learn, jam, and grow.
Here are some of our young students performing together as a band after just five one-hour practice sessions. We believe in making learning practical and fun, helping students of all ages build confidence and teamwork skills from the very beginning.
A key part of singing is learning how to project your voice with power and clarity. In this video from a Hindustani vocal session, I am explaining the technique of "throwing the voice" so it sounds open and full, a fundamental skill for any aspiring singer.
For those interested in Western vocal performance, we provide a full band setup to practice in a real-world environment. This clip shows a rehearsal session with our students on vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, getting ready for a live performance.
Our Indian classical vocal classes are open to everyone, including adults who are just starting their musical journey. This is a glimpse into a group session where students learn together, accompanied by a harmonium in a traditional, focused setting.
We regularly host teacher-student jam sessions to make learning interactive and collaborative. It's a great way for students to apply their skills, learn from experienced musicians, and feel the energy of playing with a live band.
This is a snapshot from a practice session with two of our students, one on vocals and the other on keyboard. We encourage collaboration, and many of our students connect here to practice and create music together.
About Featured
Most music schools focus on solitary drills, but here, we prioritize the jam. Whether you are learning tabla or electric guitar, we integrate band practice and vocal projection exercises from the very first month so you stop just practicing and start playing music.
Our Approach to Music
At Zen Music Academy, we believe learning music is about 'bariiki'—the finer details that separate a beginner from a musician. Whether it is adjusting your breath to tune a flute or learning how to 'throw' your voice for a Western vocal performance, we focus on the mechanics first.
Why Students Choose Us
- Collaborative Learning: You will find guitarists, drummers, and vocalists jamming together. We encourage students to form bands and perform, which builds confidence faster than any textbook could.
- Versatile Training: We bridge the gap between Indian Classical (Hindustani/Carnatic) and Western music. Our studios are equipped for both, so you can practice scales on a harmonium in one room and move to a dynamic microphone and PA system in the next.
- For All Levels: We do not care if you have never touched an instrument. We have students who are five years old and adults returning to music after decades. Our teachers have anywhere from a few years to three decades of experience, ensuring we have the right fit for your current skill level.
The 'Zen' Way
We keep our batches small, typically 4 to 6 students, so you get actual attention. If you prefer deep-diving into specific techniques or preparing for exams like Trinity or Gandharva, our 1-on-1 sessions are designed to fix posture, pitch, and projection issues in real-time. We are currently active in Mira Road and Vasai, so if you are nearby, just drop by to see how we practice.
