About Introductory Music Workshops
Start Your Music Journey
At Zen Music Academy, I believe music is for everyone. Whether you’re just curious or you’ve tried learning before and got stuck, these workshops are a chill way to dip your toes in. No pressure, no fancy jargon - just real music, real people.
What Happens in the Workshop
- You get to try musical instruments yourself - not just watch.
- Small group, so you actually get attention and can ask anything.
- Our teachers are always around for Q&A, so you won’t leave confused.
- We wrap up with a live performance from our teachers’ band. Sometimes it’s messy, sometimes it’s magic, but always fun.
Who Should Come
- Absolute beginners (never touched an instrument? Perfect.)
- Folks who want to break through a learning plateau.
- Anyone who wants a hands-on music session and just see what it’s all about.
What You’ll Learn
- Guitar basics - maybe your first chord, maybe a new trick if you already play.
- Flute baareeki (fine details) - blowing practice, matching ‘Sa’ with Tanpura, all taught by Gopal Prasad Ji.
- Rhythm foundation for tabla or dholak - Ravi Vijay Indorekar brings 30 years of experience, so you get real laabh (benefit) if you want to seekhna (learn) percussion.
Why We Do This
I just want you to have fun, explore music, and see if it clicks. Show up with an open mind, and let’s see where the music takes you.

My Story
We kicked off Zen Music Academy with one thought - music sabke liye (music is for all). Here, it’s not just about notes, it’s about that feeling when you lose yourself in a jam. Sometimes, you’ll see our tabla and harmonium teachers just start playing after class, or kids forming a band out of nowhere. Some teachers have been at it for 30 years, some are just starting out. Feels like a big musical family, really. Mira Road to Vasai, we keep growing, and we love our free workshops - bas aao aur try karo (just come and try).
My Work
Music classes for all instruments - Guitar, drums, keyboard, piano, vocals (Indian & Western), flute, tabla, dholak, harmonium, violin. Group ya 1-on-1, your choice.
Beginners to advanced, all are welcome - Doesn’t matter if you’re just starting or stuck somewhere, aapka swagat hai (you’re welcome).
Our 'Zen' way - We go deep into bariiki (details). Like tuning flute with breath, or finding your own style. Not just what, but how.
Community and jams - Teachers and students jam, learn, and grow together. Sometimes it’s a tabla and dholak jam session, sometimes a group keyboard class. Always fun.
