My Yoga and Pilates Journey: Philosophy in Practice
Movement is my way of connecting to myself. Here is a glimpse into the personal practice, training, and quiet moments that shape how I guide you on your own path.
True teaching begins with self-awareness. I always take time to feel every movement myself before delivering it to my clients, ensuring I can guide them from a place of experience.
A beautiful memory from my training in Cape Town. This manual, "Injuries & Special Populations," represents my commitment to safe and knowledgeable instruction for every body.
A quiet moment in a Cape Town studio. These spaces are sacred to me, places of focus, strength, and transformation.
The power of community. This photo from my time in Cape Town reminds me that we grow stronger together, sharing our energy and passion for movement.
A room full of reformers, full of potential. This image from my travels inspires me, representing the endless possibilities for strength and healing that Pilates offers.
"You are only as young as your spine is flexible." This quote from Joseph Pilates is a guiding principle in my practice and teaching.
A glimpse into my week. From waking in the Brahma Muhurta for meditation to teaching yoga workshops and studying for my reformer exams, my life is a flow of practice and learning.
About My Journey & Philosophy
My approach to teaching isn't about perfect poses, but the hours spent studying anatomy and biomechanics before the class begins. When you join my sessions, you'll see why I prioritize injury prevention and spinal health; I don't just instruct, I observe how your body is moving in real-time, adjusting the springs on the reformer or guiding your alignment so the exercise actually works for your specific needs.
My journey with movement started with a simple search for balance. Whether I am flowing through a yoga sequence in the early hours of the morning or focusing on the technical precision of Pilates, my goal remains the same: 'Sthira Sukham Āsanam'—finding that steady and comfortable space in the body.
The Intersection of Tradition and Technique
I believe in learning from the source. My training in Cape Town was a pivotal chapter where I deeply studied injury management and movement mechanics. This isn't just about fitness; it is about understanding how to make the body safer and stronger. I blend the mindfulness of my Bihar School of Yoga roots with the structural support of Pilates.
When you enter my studio space in Dubai, you will notice that we do not rush. We work with:
- Intentional Alignment: I look at how your core is working and how your spine lines up before we increase the intensity.
- Mindful Breathwork: Every movement is tethered to a breath, helping you stay present rather than just counting reps.
- Varied Apparatus: Whether we use the Reformer, Wunda Chair, or simple mat props, the equipment is there to support your unique physiology, not to force you into a mold.
Why I Teach
For me, teaching is a way of sharing what I have been gifted. From my Assamese roots, I bring a love for nature and stillness, and I invite that same quiet focus into our sessions. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all fitness. If you are rehabbing an old injury, preparing for life's changes, or simply want to feel more at home in your skin, I am here to help you get there, step by step.
