About Fielding & Fitness Fundamentals

Most academies treat fielding as a warm-up, but here it is a core discipline. We use reaction balls, agility ladders, and match-simulation hurdles to fix your balance and speed, so when a catch comes, your body knows exactly where to be without you needing to think about it.

Training with Intent

At Willow Sportz, we do not believe in standing around waiting for the ball. Whether you are training at our Balagere, Whitefield, or Seegehalli facilities, our fielding and fitness curriculum is built to make you a genuine asset to your team. We break down the basics—starting with the 'ready' position—and layer in high-intensity reaction drills that mimic real match pressure.

Why Fielding is the Difference

A talented batter or bowler can have an off day, but a sharp fielder is always valuable. We focus on the three pillars of fielding:

  • Reaction Speed: Using reflex balls and coordination challenges to cut down your reaction time.
  • Balance: You cannot take a clean catch if your weight is wrong. We teach you to stay low and balanced, keeping your eyes locked on the ball’s angle.
  • Athleticism: Through hurdle jumps and sprint intervals, we build the explosive power needed to stop boundaries and attack the stumps.

The 'Finish Maadu' Mindset

Fitness here is not about aesthetics; it is about stamina. You will be pushed through agility ladders and hurdle jumps, often while wearing full gear, to ensure you can perform under fatigue. We teach you to 'finish maadu'—complete the drill with the same intensity at the end of the session as you had at the start. If you are looking to become a reliable fielder and an all-around athletic cricketer, this is where you start.

I’m Praveen, and I’m on the ground with you for every single drill. I don't just watch from the sidelines; I teach you to push your limits because that is the only way to build a real cricketer. We don't settle for 'good enough' here.
