Theatre goes beyond memorizing lines. We use the Navarasas to help actors move from reciting scripts to truly reacting on stage, turning emotions into performance.

#NavarasaNavaratri Day 9: Hasya. We celebrate the final day with the infectious joy of laughter, an essential emotion in performance and in life.

#NavarasaNavaratri Day 8: Bheebhatsa. Today we dive into the emotion of disgust or aversion, exploring its powerful expression through facial and physical acting.

#NavarasaNavaratri Day 7: Bhayanaka. Our artists explore the emotion of fear, a primal and powerful state that every actor must learn to embody authentically.

#NavarasaNavaratri Day 6: Adbhutha. Today, it's all about wonder and amazement. Our artists express the delightful surprise that this rasa represents.

No one understands the importance of LIGHTS better than theatre practitioners. Wishing everyone a Happy Festival of Lights, Deepavali.

About Creative Explorations & Moments

You are looking at our #NavarasaNavaratri series, where we deconstruct emotions like Bhayanaka (fear) and Hasya (laughter). We do not just teach these concepts in a classroom; we use them in our workshops to help you break through inhibitions and find your authentic expression. Whether you are prepping for a role or just want to understand human behaviour better, these exercises are where the magic starts.

Why We Explore the Navarasas

In theatre, emotions are tools. Many actors get stuck because they try to 'act' happy or sad, but the audience sees right through that. We work on the Navarasas (the nine emotions) to help you understand the physical and mental state behind each feeling. When you can embody Bhayanaka or Adbhutha with honesty, you stop mimicking and start reacting.

The Training Process

Our creative explorations are not just for the stage; they are for life. In our Jayanagar studio, we focus on:

  • Physicality: Using body movement, posture, and facial expressions to communicate before you say a word.
  • Vocal Dynamics: Working on breath and projection to ensure your voice carries the weight of your emotion.
  • Breaking Inhibitions: Most beginners are held back by the fear of looking silly. We create a safe space where 'messing up' is a required part of the learning curve.

Join the Bengaluru Theatre Community

WeMove Theatre is not just a school; it is a community of people who care about stories. Whether you are joining our 'Big Step' foundation course or looking for specialized 1-on-1 coaching, you will find yourself in a room with people who value craft over theory. We stage our work in venues like Ranga Shankara and Alliance Française, and we often invite our workshop graduates to be part of our productions. If you are ready to stop watching from the audience and start telling stories, come join us at the studio.
