Grappling and Wrestling Training for MMA
Grappling is the foundation of every real fight. I teach you how to control your opponent on the mat, whether you are here for self-defense or to compete in the cage.
Demonstrating an upper body wrestling lift. This drill builds the strength needed to control your opponent in the clinch and execute powerful throws.
A dynamic takedown sequence. We practice transitioning from a lift directly into a dominant ground position, leaving no room for the opponent to recover.
Wrestling drills focusing on takedown entries and finishing on the mat. Repetition is key to making these movements second nature in a fight.
Wrestling conditioning is a different beast. It builds a type of endurance and strength that you won't find in any other sport.
Practicing a takedown against the wall. In MMA, the cage is another weapon, and I teach how to use it to your advantage during grappling exchanges.
Building wrestling strength is about more than just lifting. It's about applying force through movement, as shown in this ground control drill.
Practicing suplexes with a grappling dummy. This is how we safely drill high-amplitude throws to build muscle memory and explosive power.
Core strength is everything in wrestling. This drill with the grappling bag focuses on building the rotational power and stability needed to control an opponent.
A jiu-jitsu sweep demonstration. On the ground, technique always beats strength. I teach how to use leverage to reverse positions and gain the upper hand.
Working on takedown defense and counters. A good offense starts with a solid defense, and we drill how to shut down your opponent's attacks.
About Grappling & Wrestling: The Art of Control
We don't train in a polished, AC-cooled gym with fancy machines. You will be on 25mm puzzle mats, working through sweat and intensity in a garage-style setup. This is raw, functional training—expect live drills, positional sparring, and micro-corrections on your takedowns and ground control. If you are not ready to put in the hard work, this isn't for you.
When you step onto the mat at VAJRA MMA in Sector 72, forget about looking good for social media. We focus on the 'why' behind every move. Grappling is 100% technique, and I break it down so you understand the leverage needed to secure a takedown or lock in a submission.
My Training Approach
- Technique Over Power: You will learn to use your hips, not just your arms. We drill double leg takedowns, single leg transitions, and sprawl mechanics until they become second nature.
- Live Pressure: You don't learn to fight by watching; you learn by doing. We use positional sparring to simulate high-pressure scenarios, forcing you to think clearly when you are exhausted.
- Functional Conditioning: Wrestling tires you out differently than running. My circuits involve partner-resistance drills and smash balls to build the specific endurance you need to keep going in the third round.
What You Need to Know
This is a no-frills environment. The facility is designed for fighters, by a fighter. We have a DIY ring, iron weights, and puzzle mats. I train everyone from absolute beginners who want to learn basic self-defense to pro-fighters cutting weight for a match. Whether you are working on your jiu-jitsu sweeps or building the core strength to defend against a suplex, my focus remains the same: discipline and technical precision.
Stop overthinking and start training. Consistency is the only thing that separates the dreamers from the fighters.
Kapil Gupta
I started with nothing but a dream, and I built this gym with my own hands. I don't believe in spoon-feeding; I teach you the grind because that is the only way to get stronger. When you train with me, you aren't just a client. You are a fighter in the making.
