Urban & Public Space Design
Vijay Gupta Architects
We design public spaces that fit local life, work for everyone, and use real patterns of how people move and gather, not just what looks good.

About
What Drives Us
We see urban space as more than just concrete and benches. It's about creating places that people remember, places that actually improve daily life. I want every project to feel like it belongs to the neighbourhood, not just something dropped in from above.
Our Way of Designing
- Always for people—families, joggers, students, the chai-wala, everyone. I try to make public spaces easy to use and open to all.
- I pay extra attention to those in-between spots, like walkways and corridors. Why should they be dull? These spots can spark chance meetings or just make the walk home better.
- I love drawing from local context. Like, if we’re in Rajasthan, I might look at step wells for inspiration. It keeps things rooted and real, not just trendy.
- I don't just go with my gut—I map out how people actually use the space, all day, all night. That’s how we make places that really work.
Spaces I Shape
- I design community gathering spaces—think lively plazas and courtyards—where people end up hanging out together, even if they didn’t plan to.
- Waterfronts are my favourite to rethink. I see them as connections, not boundaries, and work on making them truly welcoming.
- Urban plazas and parks? I see them as the city’s living room. They need to be flexible, green, and good for both big events and just chilling quietly.
Some days, it’s tough balancing what looks good with what actually fits the city’s pulse. But I’m stubborn about making public spaces that feel honest and belong to the people.

Sustainable Campus Design - We plan for the future, using flexible layouts and eco-friendly systems that blend with nature.
Designing Whole Ecosystems - We go beyond classrooms—think labs, gardens, and in-between spaces for curiosity and flow.
