Pranayama and Meditation for Anxiety and Sleep
Yoga is not just about poses; it is about how you breathe. In these sessions, we focus on using your breath to clear your mind and regulate your nervous system right here in Vile Parle.
Bhramari Pranayama, or Bee Breath, is a simple yet powerful technique I teach to help calm the nervous system. The humming vibration soothes the mind, making it an effective practice for reducing stress and anxiety.
The gentle sound of the Bee Breath helps to turn your focus inward, away from external distractions. This is a key practice in my yoga therapy sessions for anyone struggling with a busy mind or difficulty sleeping.
The sound of OM is more than a chant; it is the vibration of the universe that helps you connect to your inner self. I guide you to use this sound as a tool to begin your journey into deeper awareness and meditation.
About The Power of Breath: Pranayama & Meditation
You might think yoga is just about flexibility, but without controlled breathing, your nervous system stays locked in stress mode. When you join me at The YogArt Studio, we do not just hold poses. We focus on the quality of your breath using techniques like Bhramari to switch off anxiety and improve your sleep quality. Because your body needs the right alignment to breathe deeply, we use props like belts and blocks to ensure your spine remains erect and your energy flow is not blocked.
Most students come to me thinking they need to sweat it out, but they forget the most basic truth: breath is life. If you hunch or hold your breath while struggling to touch your toes, you are working against your body.
Why Breathwork Matters
When we are stressed, our breath becomes shallow and rapid. This keeps us in a state of high alert. My sessions focus on:
- Bhramari Pranayama: A simple, powerful humming technique that calms the parasympathetic nervous system and helps reduce anger and anxiety.
- OM Chanting: Beyond the sound, it is about vibration. We use this to move your focus inward, away from external distractions and constant mental noise.
- Spinal Alignment: Spine seedha hona chahiye (The spine should be straight). If you are hunched, your energy flow gets stuck. We use props to correct this so you can actually experience the benefits of the pose.
My Approach to Therapy
I do not offer one-size-fits-all classes. Whether you are dealing with insomnia or just want to clear your head, we start with a diagnostic assessment. We look at how you breathe, your spinal curvature, and your history. If you are in Mumbai, come visit us in Vile Parle West. We provide a space where you can be honest about your struggles, and together, we build a roadmap to fix them.
Remember, certification is common, but deep, authentic knowledge is rare. Stop looking for a king-size bed and start fixing the insomnia. Unleash, Align, Unite.
