Asana in Action: Strength, Flexibility, and Focus
Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is about aligning your body so energy flows freely. Here is how I guide students at my Vile Parle studio to build strength through deliberate, therapeutic movement.
A student holds Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand), a powerful inversion that calms the nervous system and improves circulation. I believe every student has untapped potential, and my role is to help them discover it safely.
Here is another student practicing the Shoulder Stand, demonstrating focus and control. This posture is known as the 'Queen of Asanas' for its wide range of therapeutic benefits for both the body and mind.
About Asana in Action: Strength, Flexibility & Focus
Most people prioritize how deep they can go into a pose, but that is where injuries happen. In my sessions, we focus on structural alignment over ambition. Whether you are practicing a shoulder stand or a simple forward bend, my goal is to keep your spine erect and your breath steady, ensuring every movement serves your body rather than straining it.
Yoga is not gymnastics. When I teach asanas, the goal is to open the body to energy, not to force it into rigid shapes. If your spine is hunched, your breath is restricted. That is why I often use props like blocks and straps. They are not a sign of weakness, but a tool for proper structure. You might see students in Sarvangasana here, but we are not just holding the pose. We are calming the nervous system. The benefits of inversions are well documented, but they are only effective if your neck is supported and your alignment is precise.
In my Vile Parle studio, sessions are small because I need to see you. I do not believe in mass-teaching where corrections are missed. I watch how you inhale, I watch your pelvic tilt, and I correct the micro-movements. You are here to fix your posture, manage chronic stress, or regain mobility. Every asana we practice is a diagnostic tool to understand where your body is holding tension.
Expect a mix of structure and support. We start with breathwork to settle the mind, move into therapeutic asanas tailored to your medical history, and finish with Savasana to integrate the work. You do not need to be flexible to start. You just need to be willing to listen to your body and learn the correct way to move. Let us uncover the potential you have not tapped yet.
