Don't just hold the pose, understand it. In these sessions, we focus on spinal integrity, breath control, and using props to find your unique expression of every asana.

A student finds their arch in Chakrasana (Wheel Pose). This powerful backbend opens the heart, strengthens the arms and legs, and energizes the entire body.

Here, we use yoga blocks to support the hands in Chakrasana. This modification helps elevate the chest and makes the pose more accessible while still building strength in the back and shoulders.

Each student's Chakrasana is unique. My role is to guide them in finding their best expression of the pose, focusing on opening the chest and maintaining steady breath.

Progress in Chakrasana is measured by the feeling of openness, not just the height of the arch. This student demonstrates great shoulder and thoracic spine mobility.

A student works on their Chakrasana on the mat. Consistent practice builds the strength and confidence needed for deep backbends like this one.

This is an advanced variation of Chakrasana using both blocks and a strap. The strap helps stabilize the arms, allowing for a deeper and more controlled opening of the shoulders and heart.

We begin with the basics. A student practices Tadasana (Mountain Pose) on her toes, engaging her leg muscles and finding her center of balance. This simple pose is the foundation for all standing postures.

Finding stability in Tadasana. Notice the active engagement through the legs and the lengthening of the spine, creating a solid and grounded base.

A student smiles as she holds her balance in Tadasana on tiptoes. This pose teaches focus and body awareness, with the colorful studio mural adding a touch of inspiration.

In Tadasana, the arms reach up, lengthening the sides of the body. This action, combined with grounded feet, teaches the principle of finding both stability and lightness.

About Asana Lab: Mastering the Postures

If you are just touching the floor in a forward bend, you are missing the point. We focus on the 'why' behind every movement—ensuring your spine stays erect and your breath matches the flow. In these sessions, I use wall ropes and blocks not as crutches, but as tools to help you find your unique expression of each asana without compromising your safety.
