We believe music is a universal language that should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live. Through our mobile music bus and various partnerships, we bring high-quality music education directly to children across Mumbai's neighborhoods.

Our 'Sound Space on Wheels' initiative featured by The Better India. This bus is a fully-equipped music haven, bringing singing and instrument lessons directly to slum kids.

As featured in Her Zindagi, our goal is to expand Sound Space on Wheels to other cities, bringing music education to more underserved communities across India.

Starting our music class on the bus with a special welcome song, featuring the kids and a surprise guest, Shawn Mendes.

A beautiful moment of cultural exchange as we teach our students and Shawn Mendes a song with hand gestures inside our mobile classroom.

When you get a private performance of 'Señorita' from the artist himself. An unforgettable moment for our students in a Mumbai basti.

We gifted Shawn Mendes a beautifully crafted harmonium, a little piece of India's rich musical vibe, with a heartfelt note from our children.

Our students presenting the harmonium to Shawn Mendes. This gift was made possible by the master craftsmen at Haribhau Vishwanath.

A red-letter evening at The Sound Space. We had Shawn Mendes join us on our bus, which travels to various bastis to bring music to children who lack access.

Welcoming Shawn Mendes with a traditional shawl. Moments like these remind us of the power of music to connect hearts across cultures.

In conversation with Shawn Mendes outside our music bus. Sharing our mission and the stories of our students was a powerful experience.

About Music for All: Our Community Initiatives

Our 'Sound Space on Wheels' is more than just a bus. It is a fully equipped, mobile music classroom that rolls into Mumbai's communities every week. By bringing instruments like violins, guitars, and djembes directly to the local bastis, we remove the barrier of travel and cost, allowing children to focus entirely on their musical journey in a safe and familiar environment.

For us, the biggest barrier to music education is often just access. When we started The Sound Space, we realized that many children had the passion and the ear for music but no way to get to a traditional studio. That is why we created the Sound Space on Wheels. This mobile classroom is our way of meeting students where they are.

How We Make Music Accessible

  • Mobile Learning: Our bus travels to different areas of Mumbai, turning local community spaces into active music classrooms. We bring the instruments, the teachers, and the curriculum to you.
  • Strategic Partnerships: We collaborate with organizations like the Akanksha Foundation and receive support from initiatives like BookAChange to run structured programs. These partnerships allow us to provide consistent, long-term training rather than one-off workshops.
  • Focus on Community: We emphasize group singing and collective learning, such as performing 'Hum Honge Kamiyab,' which builds confidence and a sense of shared purpose. Our students learn to listen to each other as much as they learn to hold a note.

Why This Matters

Music is not just about learning a raag or a swar. It is about emotional well-being, patience, and focus. In our community programs, we see students who started as shy participants grow into confident performers. We are constantly looking to expand our reach to more neighborhoods across Mumbai. If you represent an organization or a community group looking to partner with us to bring music education to your area, we would love to hear from you.
