When I create a custom piece, like my textured floral vases, I am not just making pottery. I am attaching hundreds of individual clay petals one by one. This process requires patience and takes time, but that is how we capture the organic, tactile beauty that makes your home decor truly yours.
Each custom commission begins with a conversation. Whether you are envisioning a large sculptural centerpiece or specific wall art for your living room, my process focuses on bringing your idea to life through traditional techniques like wheel throwing and hand-building.
I work primarily with stoneware and terracotta. For intricate designs, I often use Sgraffito, where I carve through layers of slip to reveal patterns, or detailed appliqué where I build texture layer by layer. Because I believe in the beauty of the handmade, you will find small quirks in my work. No two pieces are identical, and that is intentional.
If you have a vision, here is how we move forward:
- Consultation: We discuss your concept, dimensions, and the space where the piece will live.
- Prototyping: For complex projects like washbasins or large sculptures, we will sync via video call to approve sketches and clay forms before I finalize the firing.
- Creation and Firing: Most custom projects take 3 to 4 weeks, allowing for the slow drying and precise firing cycles required to ensure durability.
