About Indian Maatrutva Portraits
When you book a Maatrutva session, you do not need to worry about the logistics of traditional styling. I provide the saree and the setup, and my assistant is there to help with the precise draping and posing to ensure you feel comfortable and radiant throughout the shoot. We typically focus on the contrast between the rich, traditional colors of the saree and the soft, focused lighting that highlights the baby bump, ensuring the cultural elements complement, rather than overpower, you.
Celebrating Tradition
The 'Maatrutva' (Motherhood) theme is about more than just photography; it is about honoring the customs associated with this phase of life. In my Thane studio, I have curated a specific collection of props—antique furniture, peacock feathers, brass lamps, and traditional platters—to create a setting that feels authentic and deeply rooted in culture. Whether you want to incorporate specific family traditions or simply want a classic, regal aesthetic, these portraits capture the grace of pregnancy with a timeless Indian touch.
How These Sessions Work
- Styling: I provide the sarees, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have a special heirloom piece you would like to wear. My assistant is on set specifically to handle the draping, so you do not need to worry about the fit or the folds while you are posing.
- Lighting & Posing: I use directional studio lighting to accentuate your silhouette while maintaining the warmth required for these traditional shots. We move at a comfortable pace, ensuring we get a mix of close-ups, full-length portraits, and candid interactions.
- Inclusivity: While the primary focus is on the mother-to-be, these sessions are designed to include your partner and siblings. Incorporating the family adds another layer of emotion to the portraits, making them a keepsake for everyone involved.
Choosing Your Package
If you are looking for this specific cultural experience, the Signature Themed Package is usually the best fit. It allows for two distinct looks—one traditional 'Maatrutva' theme and one glamour look—giving you a balanced gallery. It includes the necessary prop setup and assistance, so your only job is to show up and enjoy the process.
