Professional Boxing Pad Work and Partner Drills
Pad work is where theory meets practice. Stop just hitting the heavy bag and start learning how to read your opponent with one-on-one drills.
Right on the beat. Pad work is like a rhythm, a dance between the coach and the fighter. We work on timing and flow until the combinations are smooth and powerful.
Improve your slips with these three techniques. Here, I'm working with a student in a partner drill to make sure he's using his legs and keeping his eyes on the target.
Here I'm showing a student how to defend against a left hook using a head block, a slip, and a roll. Partner drills are the best way to practice defensive moves against a live opponent.
This is a great boxing drill to try with a partner. It combines diagonal punches with footwork, helping both fighters improve their coordination, timing, and ring awareness.
I believe in doing what you love. For me, that's being in the gym, working with dedicated students, and helping them become the best fighters they can be.
About this collection
Pad work is like a conversation. If you hit the mitts without rhythm, you are just making noise. We focus on the flow, making sure you learn to control your distance and react to openings instead of just swinging wildly. When we drill together, I am not just holding pads, I am teaching you how to see the fight.
Beyond the Heavy Bag
Many people think boxing is just about hitting a bag as hard as you can. That is a workout, not a fight. True boxing is about timing, range, and reaction. In my pad work sessions, we move. I force you to adjust your stance, find new angles, and connect your punches with your footwork.
Why Partner Drills Matter
When you train with a partner, you learn the 'sweet science.' We use foam noodles and tennis balls to simulate real-world attacks. You learn to slip, roll, and parry against a moving target. This builds your reaction speed in a way that shadowboxing or bag work never will. It teaches you to stay calm when punches are coming your way.
What We Cover in Training
- Reaction Time: Drills that force you to think and move in milliseconds.
- Technical Correction: I watch your hips and feet during every drill, fixing bad habits before they become muscle memory.
- Defensive Mechanics: You will learn how to block, parry, and slip effectively, turning defense into an opportunity for a counter-attack.
- Conditioning: These sessions are intense. You will improve your cardiovascular endurance while maintaining focus and sharp technique.
