From initial choreography to the final stage bow, I support students through every step of their debut solo performance. My goal is to ensure you feel prepared and confident under the spotlight.

My talented student Madhusri, embodying the form of Ardhanareeshvara. It is a joy to mentor young dancers and watch them grow into confident performers.

The full Arangetram video of my student Madhusri is a testament to her hard work. This snippet features a Jathi composition by our talented mridangam artist.

A week after the big day, a look back at the Arangetram rehearsals. This shows the intense practice and collaboration with the live orchestra that leads to a successful debut.

A black and white photo from my student's maiden Arangetram. It captures the grand scale of the stage, the live orchestra, and the solo dancer, a truly momentous occasion.

My all-women's music ensemble, the backbone of the Arangetram. Here I am seated with them, performing the Nattuvangam (rhythmic direction) for my student.

About this collection

Preparing for an Arangetram is a significant commitment that requires more than just mastering the technique. I work with students to bridge the gap between classroom practice and live performance, which includes refining a 7 to 8 item repertoire, coordinating an all-women musical ensemble, and conducting the Nattuvangam rhythm. This process requires at least 4 to 5 full musical rehearsals at my studio to ensure the dancer and the musicians are perfectly synchronized before the event.

The Arangetram is a milestone in any dancer's journey. My approach to mentoring is comprehensive, focusing on the artistic, technical, and logistical aspects of your debut.

Artistic Direction & Choreography I help structure a traditional Margam (repertoire) that highlights your strengths. Whether it is a traditional piece or a thematic presentation, we polish every movement, adavu (steps), and expression to ensure technical clarity and emotional depth.

Orchestra & Production As an experienced Nattuvangar, I provide live rhythmic direction, ensuring the interaction between the dancer and the ensemble is seamless. I also curate and book specialized musicians, including vocalists, mridangam artists, and instrumentalists, to form a professional all-women orchestra tailored for your performance.

Logistics & Preparation Beyond the dance itself, I guide students through the details that make a professional show run smoothly. This includes:

  • Styling: Selection of Kanjeevaram silk sarees and temple jewelry that align with the aesthetic of your performance.
  • Technical Rehearsals: Conducting on-site blocking rehearsals at the venue to familiarize you with the stage space.
  • Aesthetic Consulting: Offering stage makeup services and guidance on the setup to match your brand aesthetic, ensuring you feel comfortable and look stage-ready.

My studio spaces in Malleshwaram, Bangalore, and Kodambakkam, Chennai, serve as the hub for these training sessions. Whether you are looking to start your Arangetram training or need help with a specific part of your production, I am happy to discuss how we can work together to realize your vision.
