About this collection
When I choreograph for a group, it is not just about keeping the steps identical. It is about creating a dynamic space on stage where the dancers breathe together. For our 'SHE' production, we focused heavily on stage geometry and formations that look just as compelling from the back row as they do from the front.
Transitioning from solo Bharatanatyam to group ensembles requires a shift in how one approaches the stage. My focus at Vivartana is to ensure that while we maintain the rigor of the classical format, we also utilize the full stage space with dynamic formations. Whether we are presenting a thematic piece like 'SHE' or a high-energy 'Mallari', the goal is to create a visual spectacle that keeps the audience engaged.
We typically perform as a five-dancer ensemble, which allows for intricate choreography that is difficult to execute solo. This format is popular for corporate award shows, cultural festivals, and events where a strong visual impact is needed. For each booking, we provide a 30-minute on-site blocking rehearsal to ensure our spacing is perfect for your specific venue. This technical preparation is non-negotiable for us. We perform to high-fidelity, studio-quality audio tracks, ensuring the sound balance is pristine, regardless of the hall's acoustics. If you are looking for a performance that marries traditional discipline with a polished stage presentation, I would love to connect.
Sushmitha Suresh
I am Sushmitha Suresh, and at Vivartana, we believe dance is a conversation between the body and the soul. While I love my solo recitals, directing my group of dancers is where I find a different kind of joy, watching our synchronization bring choreography to life.
