Eco-Friendly Ganesha Idol Workshops & Community Puja
Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in Byculla by sculpting your own eco-friendly Ganesha idol. Join us for a two-day process that blends traditional clay craft with community devotion and sustainable rituals.

About Ganesh Chaturthi: A Celebration of Clay & Community
This isn't just a craft class; it's a two-day immersion into working with river-bed terracotta. On the first day, we focus on sculpting the idol, ensuring proper anatomy and structural stability, while the second day is dedicated to finishing. You leave with an 8-10 inch handmade Ganesha that is safe for your home and sustainable for the environment.
Why Choose Clay Over PoP
Many of us grew up with Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols that look pretty but cause lasting harm to our water bodies. Our workshop is an effort to change that habit. We use 100% natural, chemical-free terracotta clay. It connects you to the earth element, which is traditionally associated with Lord Ganesha. The process of sculpting allows you to understand the balance of the idol, making your worship more personal because you put your own hands to the clay.
What the 2-Day Workshop Covers
We keep the groups small so you get actual help from our mentors. You don't need prior pottery experience; we teach you the traditional methods.
- Day 1 (Sculpting): We guide you through the foundational structure, creating the base, limbs, and form.
- Day 2 (Finishing): This is where you add the details, refine the features, and ensure the idol is stable.
- Equipment: We provide all tools, including clay, sponges, and workstations.
A Space for Community
For us, the studio is an extension of the home. During Ganesh Chaturthi, we transform the workspace into a pandal. We hold daily aarti, havan ceremonies, and community meals. If you choose to, you can join us for the visarjan at our on-site artificial pond. We believe rituals are better when shared, and whether you are a regular potter or a first-time visitor, you are part of our studio family for these ten days. Please note that batch sizes are limited to ensure everyone gets enough space and attention to complete their Ganesha successfully.
Studio White & Gray
We started Studio White & Gray to build a shared space in Mumbai where the craft of clay meets the rhythm of community life. For us, Ganesh Chaturthi is the highlight of the year—a time to step away from the daily grind, get our hands into raw terracotta, and celebrate our traditions together as one family.
