Meet Madhura: The Potter Behind the Wheel
I’m Madhura, and this is where clay becomes my therapy—and hopefully, yours too. Welcome to my little corner in Powai, Mumbai.
I was so honored to be featured in the Bombay Times for our popular 'Clay Dates'. Sharing my story and passion for pottery with a wider audience was a humbling and incredibly grateful moment for me.
A dream come true. I was invited to be a judge at Mood Indigo, the festival at IIT Bombay. Holding this 'Thank You' frame is a reminder that with passion and hard work, you can achieve things beyond your imagination.
Standing at the entrance of Mood Indigo at IIT Bombay. I never thought I'd be here as a judge, especially considering my college grades. It's a testament to following your passion.
Here I am, seriously at work judging the art submissions at Mood Indigo. It was inspiring to see so much young talent and creativity in one place.
A quick look at my experience as a judge at IIT Bombay's Mood Indigo festival. It was an absolute honor to be part of such a prestigious event and witness the incredible talent of the students.
A huge milestone for my studio and me. This was the day my first state-of-the-art kiln arrived from Canada. It was a courageous decision and a big step in my journey as a professional potter.
A tour of my happy place, my studio. It's my tiny world, filled with student work, my own creations, and so much love. This space allows me to be myself.
A friend captured this candid moment of me at work, glazing pottery. When you buy from an artist, you're buying hundreds of hours of experiments, frustrations, and moments of pure joy.
About Meet Madhura: The Potter Behind the Wheel
Getting my first professional kiln shipped all the way from Canada was a huge, nerve-wracking gamble, but it changed everything. It transformed this studio from a hobby space into a place where I could finally control the quality of every single piece I create. That same 'all-in' commitment to the craft is exactly what I bring to the table in every workshop, ensuring you get the best guidance whether you are here for fun or to learn the art properly.
My journey with clay hasn't been about prestigious degrees or perfect grades. In fact, there were days I didn't think I'd get past the front gate of a place like IIT. But life has a funny way of circling back—years later, being invited to judge at IIT Bombay’s Mood Indigo was a reminder that passion truly counts for more than papers. That perspective defines everything I do at Studio Meeraya in Powai.
Pottery, for me, is 'sukoon' (peace). It is that rare space in the middle of a chaotic city where you can actually put your phone away, get your hands muddy, and just breathe. When you join my workshops, we aren't just making bowls or mugs. We are navigating the 'happy accidents' of the kiln and learning to embrace the process over the outcome.
Life hai bhidu! Sometimes things flop, and sometimes they turn out perfect. Whether you are coming in for a couple’s clay date, a kid’s birthday party, or a serious beginner’s course, my focus remains the same: making you feel at home, keeping things real, and helping you leave the stress at the door.
