Our workshops turn heritage conservation into a hands-on, collaborative experience for students, professionals, and community groups.

During a winter elective with students, I discuss the real-world complexities of heritage conservation, such as the financial challenges homeowners face with listed buildings. Our teaching is grounded in the practical realities of the field.

About Jugaadopolis Workshops: Co-creating the Future of Heritage

These sessions are far from typical lectures where you simply sit and listen. We use gamification and collaborative mapping to tackle real-world urban regeneration problems, such as how to retrofit an old building or revive a heritage site without losing its character. You will work alongside peers, using sticky notes and onsite site visits to dissect challenges, mirroring the actual methodology we apply in our professional architecture practice.

Our Jugaadopolis initiative is built on the belief that heritage conservation must be an accessible, living practice. We design these workshops to break down the walls between academic theory and the messy realities of the built environment.

How We Work

Instead of dry presentations, we pack our sessions with games, brainstorming, and co-creation exercises. Whether we are exploring a haveli in Old Delhi or dissecting urban policy with design students, the goal is always to move from abstract concepts to tangible, local solutions.

Core Themes

  • Adaptive Reuse: Learning to repurpose old structures for modern use while respecting their original bones.
  • Urban Regeneration: Understanding the dynamics of policy, community needs, and economic constraints.
  • Materiality: Hands-on identification of original materials like lime and Lakhori brick versus incompatible modern repairs.

Why Join

We welcome students, design professionals, and community groups. Our workshops provide you with the Restoration Toolbox—a practical guide to demystifying the conservation process. You walk away with more than just a certificate; you gain a framework for 'placemaking' that you can apply to your own projects. We believe that by teaching these skills, we make the entire field of conservation stronger and more relevant to our climate and culture.
