About Editorial & High Fashion
Editorial styling is less about just picking clothes and more about building a visual narrative that translates from the mood board to the camera. Whether it is sourcing specific avant-garde pieces or using clamps and pins to perfect a silhouette on set, my focus remains on the texture and form of the garment. I am on-set for every shot, ensuring the styling flows with the lighting and the model’s movement.
Every editorial project brings its own unique set of requirements. For the Varaa Magazine shoots, the goal was to create a high-fashion silhouette that felt both sophisticated and modern, using structured textures like the pleated lehenga we styled for Ritu Varma. In contrast, working with brands like Advait for their Resort '23 collection required a completely different approach, focusing on vibrant color-blocking and the movement of the fabric in an artistic, almost graphic way.
My work typically involves:
- Pre-production mood boarding and visual planning.
- Sourcing high-end garments and statement accessories that fit the narrative.
- On-set wardrobe management, which includes fit correction, steaming, and making sure every collar and fold stays consistent across different takes.
Because I come from a background of building relationships, I prioritize clear communication with the creative director, photographer, and the rest of the production team. We operate as a tight unit, whether we are shooting in our studio in T. Nagar or on location at resorts.
