About Kalaripayattu: The Way of the Warrior

Kalaripayattu is not just about combat; it is a full-body conditioning practice that improves posture, builds core strength, and sharpens mental focus. At our Jungpura studio, we break the training into two tracks: foundation movements like Chuvadu and Vadivu for beginners, and advanced weapon work with sticks and swords for those ready to deepen their practice.

Our Kalaripayattu program focuses on the Northern (Vaddakan) style, widely known as the mother of all martial arts. We run our sessions in a way that respects the history of this discipline while making it accessible to modern learners in Delhi.

The Training Approach

We believe in a holistic learning process. You start with Meithari, the foundational body control exercises, before moving on to advanced weapon handling. Our workshops include periodic intensives led by Guru Vinod Kadangal, who visits us from Kerala to guide students through the nuances of the form. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a master with four decades of experience.

Who Should Join?

  • Beginners: If you have never practiced a martial art, start here. We focus on basic stances, animal postures, and breathing.
  • Kids: We have specific batches for children aged 6 to 12. It helps them build coordination, patience, and confidence in a safe, play-based environment.
  • Experienced Practitioners: If you have prior experience, we challenge your strength and technique through rigorous weapon training and complex movement flows.

Our classes are designed to be a sanctuary. You will find that the rhythm of the practice helps with stress relief and physical flexibility. We host regular sessions throughout the week, and we are always happy to welcome new faces to the mat.
