Soulful Devotional Music Videos and Carnatic Recordings
Music is my way of connecting with the divine. Here are some of my favorite devotional recordings and music videos, born from collaborations that truly moved me. 🧿
A clip from the music video for 'Hey Govinda Hey Gopala', a beautiful Surdas bhajan on Lord Krishna. This was produced by Strumm Spiritual and is a great example of a professionally shot devotional music video.
A short teaser for my participation in the 'Spirit of Margazhi' Utsav. I was very happy to be a part of this digital festival, singing for a production featuring some wonderful dancers.
About Devotional Music Videos & Recordings
Whether it is a studio-produced bhajan or a digital performance, my goal is to keep the Carnatic roots intact while making the sound accessible. I love working with creative partners like Strumm Spiritual because they allow me to experiment with the visual storytelling behind traditional songs, ensuring the devotion comes through clearly in every frame.
Recording a devotional piece is a different beast compared to a live concert. In a concert, you feed off the energy of the crowd, the silence of the hall, or the rustle of a saree. In a studio or on a video set, you have to find that 'bhakti' in a controlled environment. I think the magic happens when you strip away the distractions and focus on the raga.
Take the 'Hey Govinda Hey Gopala' project. It wasn't just about singing a Surdas bhajan; it was about capturing a specific mood. We worked closely with the production team to ensure the visual elements supported the lyrics without overshadowing the Carnatic structure. That is what I aim for in all my recordings, whether it is a thematic production like 'Chidambara Rahasyam' or a digital festival feature for something like the 'Spirit of Margazhi'.
I find that music videos and recorded tracks allow me to reach people who might not make it to a live kutcheri. It is a way to share the rasa, or essence, of a song with a wider audience. If you have a specific devotional project, a film soundtrack, or a digital concept in mind, I am always excited to discuss how we can blend classical roots with a fresh, modern aesthetic.

I'm Spoorthi. Music is a divine journey for me, a way to find that inner connection. I grew up with the classical kutcheri vibe, but I love exploring how devotional themes can bloom through digital storytelling and collaborations.
