Penthouse & Rooftop Terrace Designs
Turning unused rooftops into functional, private outdoor lounges. I focus on durable materials and smart layout planning so your space stays comfortable year-round.
This is the main view of the penthouse terrace I designed. It features a wooden pergola for shaded seating, an open lawn area for gatherings, and a dedicated bar space, all designed to maximize the stunning city views.
A quick tour of the rooftop lounge area, showing the comfortable outdoor furniture, the wooden deck, and the infinity pool. I designed this as a complete outdoor living room for relaxation and entertainment.
The terrace includes a custom bar and barbecue area, perfect for hosting parties. The quirky art adds a pop of color and personality, making the space feel fun and unique.
The lounge area under the pergola is designed for comfort. I used durable outdoor fabrics, a ceiling fan for air circulation, and a mix of seating options, including a swing chair, to create a relaxed, resort-like feel.
This video shows the transition from the indoor space to the outdoor terrace. The design ensures a seamless flow, making the rooftop feel like a natural extension of the home.
An aerial and panoramic view of the entire terrace, capturing the different zones I created: the pool, the lawn, the lounge, and the bar. It showcases the scale of the transformation and the lifestyle it offers.
This clip focuses on the pool area and the expansive views from the terrace. The combination of wood decking, artificial turf, and the clear water creates a refreshing and luxurious atmosphere.
About this collection
Rooftops are tricky because of the local climate. Before we even talk about pergolas or bars, I focus on the waterproofing and drainage. If you get that wrong, the most beautiful deck in the world will just become a maintenance nightmare. I build these spaces so you do not spend your weekends chasing leaks or worrying about the next monsoon.
When I look at an open terrace, I do not just see empty space. I see a structural puzzle. Whether you have a penthouse in South Delhi or a rooftop in the NCR, the goal is to make it an extension of your living room, not just a place to hang laundry.
Technical Foundation
I prioritize durability above all else. We use WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking because it handles the sun and rain far better than natural wood in our local climate. For shade, we design MS pergolas that do not just look good but actually offer protection from the harsh summer sun.
Lighting & Ambiance
The vibe changes completely once the sun sets. I am particular about using IP65-rated outdoor lighting. We install spike lights for the planters, floor washers for the pathways, and warm string lights to set the mood for a dinner party. It makes the entire space usable even late at night.
Water & Greenery
Adding a plunge pool or a jacuzzi sounds great, but it requires serious load-bearing calculations and, more importantly, flawless waterproofing. My team handles the civil work, including artificial turf and vertical bio-walls, so you get greenery without the stress of managing high-maintenance gardens.
The Bar & BBQ
I love integrating built-in bars with granite or concrete counters. It turns a simple rooftop into an entertainment hub where you actually want to spend time. If you are planning a renovation, let us talk about how to make it functional for all seasons, not just for a few months in winter.
Spectre Architects
I am Swasti, and I handle the design and execution at Spectre Architects. I have realized that rooftop design is 40 percent aesthetics and 60 percent managing the elements, which is why I am on-site to make sure the waterproofing and structure are solid before we even pick the furniture.
