Innovative Façade Design for Modern Homes

The façade is a home's first dialogue with the city. We design sculptural exteriors that balance privacy, light, and artistic expression through dynamic materials and thoughtful geometry.

This is a preview of the Contour House, where organic curves meet modern minimalism. The façade is a sculptural composition of flowing concrete forms, wooden screens, and integrated planters, creating a home that is truly a piece of art.

A close-up of the 'dancing screens' on the House of Dancing Screens. These pivoting terracotta blocks are precisely crafted to create a fluid, rhythmic pattern that allows the façade to respond to the elements and the family's need for privacy.

The façade of the House of Dancing Screens is an exquisite blend of contrasting materials. The warmth of the wooden louvers and terracotta screens is balanced by the cool, dark tones of the surrounding structure, adding depth and vibrancy.

The façade of the Slender House is simple yet interesting, using corten steel texture paint, wooden battens, and grey tiles. The soft curves of the balconies and window openings are a recurring motif, extending from the exterior into the interior spaces.

The circular cutout is a key feature of the Swatantra Residence's concrete façade. It shifts across the floors, providing a visual connection between spaces while framing views and bringing natural light deep into the home.

The exterior of the Kavyam Residence blends traditional and modern elements. A brick jaali pattern adds texture and allows for natural ventilation, combined with modern materials like M.S. louvers and ipe wood for a contemporary yet vernacular feel.

In the J House, I integrated skylights, louvers, and screens to maximize daylight while ensuring privacy. This collage shows how these elements create a play of light and shadow, enhancing connectivity and bringing nature into the house.

About this collection

An effective façade is never just for show; it is an environmental moderator. In our projects, we utilize kinetic screens, deep-set balconies, and adjustable louvers not merely for their sculptural presence, but to manage solar heat gain, ensure domestic privacy, and invite natural light to sculpt the interior volume.

Architecture is an exercise in managing the boundary between the private sanctuary and the public realm. Our approach to façade design treats the exterior not as a static shell, but as a responsive interface.

We often look to traditional elements like the 'jaali' (screen) and reimagine them through a contemporary lens. For instance, in our 'House of Dancing Screens' project, we integrated pivoting terracotta blocks. These are not merely decorative; they move rhythmically with the wind, allowing the house to breathe and adapt to the occupants' need for privacy throughout the day.

Materiality plays a central role in our process. We favor honest, tactile materials such as exposed concrete, Corten steel texture paint, and warm timber, which age gracefully and anchor the structure within its landscape. Whether it is the bold, sweeping curves of the 'Contour House' or the precise, geometric cut-outs of the 'Swatantra Residence', each element is engineered to serve a purpose. We carefully calculate the sun-path and wind patterns to determine the placement of openings, ensuring that the visual drama of the building never compromises the comfort of those living inside.

This synthesis of aesthetic ambition and building science is what defines our practice. We avoid trends, preferring instead to develop elevations that feel timeless, responsive, and deeply personal to the family for whom they are built.

I approach every building shell as a piece of sculpture. My team and I focus on how a house meets the sky and the street, ensuring that while the exterior makes a bold statement, it remains deeply responsive to the lives unfolding within.
