Every derelict structure holds a narrative waiting to be revived. My practice centers on the delicate balance of preserving architectural heritage while adapting spaces for contemporary relevance, as illustrated in these transformations.

The heart of the haveli, the central courtyard, was transformed from a neglected space into a grand, visually integrated hub. The 'before' shows decay, while the 'after' reveals a meticulously planned space that connects every floor.

This sequence illustrates the complete restoration process, from initial architectural elevations to the final, fully realized structure. It shows how we brought the 200-year-old Haveli Dharampura back from a state of near collapse.

The haveli's facade on a narrow lane in Chandni Chowk, before and after restoration. We cleared away the clutter of overhead wires and restored the intricate Dholpur stone carvings of elephants, flowers, and vines.

A comparison of the central courtyard, showing its evolution from a dilapidated area to a pristine space with a new water fountain and octagonal flooring, restoring its function as the haveli's core.

This video highlights the transformation of a guest suite. What was once a poorly partitioned and decaying space is now a luxurious room with a courtyard view, blending Mughal charm with modern amenities.

A look at the interior restoration. A crumbling, discolored room is reborn as an elegant guest suite, complete with custom furniture, a restored arched entryway, and thoughtful lighting design.

This series of before-and-after shots showcases various restored spaces within Haveli Dharampura. From staircases to corridors and rooms, each element was carefully reconstructed to honor its original design.

The transformation of the ground floor from a series of dark, decaying rooms into the bright, inviting Lakhori restaurant. The original lakhori brickwork and arches were exposed and restored.

From initial concept sketch to the finished Lakhori restaurant. This collage shows the journey of a space from a simple living area to a fully realized antique-style dining room with custom chandeliers and dark polished wood furniture.

The restoration of an arched doorway with stained glass. The 'before' image shows a crumbling, blocked entrance, which was transformed into a beautiful feature with intricate woodwork and colorful glass panels.

About The Art of Restoration: Before & After

Restoration requires detective work, not just construction. When we undertake projects like Haveli Dharampura, we initiate the process with a meticulous survey, as there are rarely any surviving blueprints. We map every structural crack and distress point, employing techniques such as epoxy grouting and micro-concreting to stabilize foundations before a single aesthetic design decision is finalized.
