The Science and Spirit of Sound: Understanding Sound Healing
Sound is more than just listening. I use the vibrations of Tibetan bowls, gongs, and crystal instruments to help you release stress, backed by the principles of Nada Yoga and modern frequency science.
Why does sound meditation work so well? This video explains three key reasons, including the fact that our bodies are 70% water, which makes them excellent conductors for healing vibrations that provide a sonic massage from within.
Is sound meditation for everyone? In this video, I address this common question and explain the few contraindications, such as for those with pacemakers or in their first trimester of pregnancy, to ensure a safe practice for all.
The healing power of sound is the missing piece in many yoga practices. The vibrations from instruments like this singing bowl help to balance the body's energy centers, or chakras, promoting deeper physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
How has sound meditation helped you? This video invites you to reflect on the journey, from finding the strength that resonates within you to guiding your breath toward a space of inner peace and empowerment.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by life's chaos, sound meditation offers a powerful escape. The pure tones of crystal singing bowls can cut through the noise, guiding you to a place of deep tranquility and clarity.
Sounds and vibrations have a profound impact on our well-being. This video explains how calming sounds can reduce stress hormones, improve mood by releasing dopamine, and even help manage pain by stimulating the body's natural healing processes.
This graphic illustrates the interconnected benefits of sound healing. The frequencies can aid in physical repair at a cellular level, promote relaxation by balancing brainwave activity, and enhance social harmony in group settings.
About this collection
When you attend a session, we aren't just listening to background music. Because 70% of the human body is water, the vibrations from my Tibetan bowls and gongs act as a physical massage, gently targeting the nervous system. Whether you are coming to address specific tension or just to quiet a busy mind, my practice focuses on these physiological shifts—making it a grounded, scientific approach to relaxation rather than a vague spiritual one.
Understanding Nada Yoga
My work is rooted in Nada Yoga, the ancient path of union through sound. It is not about religion; it is about recognizing that we are energetic beings and sound is the fastest way to influence that energy. When we use specific instruments, we aren't just 'playing'; we are creating conditions for the brain to shift from a beta (active/stressed) state into alpha or theta (deeply relaxed) states.
The Science of Vibration
Why does this work? It starts with the vagus nerve, which runs from your ears to the base of your spine. As you are immersed in the frequencies of my quartz crystal bowls or the deep resonance of the symphonic gong, this nerve is stimulated, essentially telling your body it is safe to downshift. This is why people often report feeling lighter or experiencing emotional release during or after a session.
Frequency and Chakras
I integrate Solfeggio frequencies into my sessions, which are specific tones believed to correspond to the body's seven energy centers. For example, using the 528 Hz frequency—often associated with the solar plexus chakra—can promote a sense of transformation.
Important Considerations
While sound meditation is a gentle practice, I always ask clients to communicate with me beforehand if they have specific medical conditions. If you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, use a pacemaker, or are dealing with clinical depression or anxiety, please let me know. This allows me to adjust the session safely so you can get the full benefits without unnecessary strain.
Kalariyogi Shriram
I am Shriram. I believe wellness is a conversation between the body and ancient traditions like Nada Yoga and Kalari. I create a space where the instruments do the work—you just show up and let the vibrations help you find your center.
