Community, Collaboration, and Architectural Discourse
Architecture thrives on dialogue, not isolation. My practice is built on shared learnings, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary conversations that shape how we design for our community.
A cherished moment sharing our work with the late B.V. Doshi, a mentor and an immense source of inspiration. These conversations, full of learning and encouragement, are invaluable to my growth as an architect.

About this collection
Architecture is not a solitary act. When I engage in design charettes, guest lectures, or studio discussions, I am debating how space affects our collective lives, ensuring that every project is enriched by diverse perspectives long before the final drawings are made.
Architecture as a Living Conversation
For me, the studio is a research space where ideas are not just drafted but debated. My involvement with institutions like the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) and the SEED School of Design in Kochi is not separate from my practice; it is the foundation of it. By actively engaging with students, peers, and mentors like the late B.V. Doshi, I keep the practice grounded in reality rather than theoretical abstraction.
The Role of Collaboration in Design
When we take on a project, whether it is a memorial park or a private home in Bengaluru, we draw upon a wide network of thinkers. We frequently collaborate with artists, writers, and fellow architects to ensure the narrative of a space is multidimensional. This collaborative spirit helps us avoid the pitfalls of repetitive design. It pushes us to consider how a building functions not just for its owners, but as a meaningful contribution to the urban fabric.
Why This Matters for Your Project
When you hire a studio that prioritizes discourse, you are opting for a process that values rigorous thought. We spend time on the 'why' before the 'what.' We analyze local materials, study how natural light interacts with the volume of a room, and hold conversations that challenge traditional layouts. This approach ensures that your space is not just a structure, but a thoughtful response to your specific requirements and environment.
Soumitro Ghosh
I am Soumitro Ghosh, and I view architecture as a conversation that never truly ends. My studio in Koramangala is a space where we constantly debate, sketch, and learn from other thinkers to ensure our designs remain deeply human and contextually relevant.
