My Architectural Philosophy & Design Journey
Architecture is for me a deep intellectual inquiry. It is about connecting spaces, nature, and community through design that feels alive, grounded, and purposeful.
This video provides a narrative of my architectural journey, my core beliefs, and the evolution of my practice. It explains the "why" behind my work, from the influence of my mentors to the creation of the MapBee collective for social change.

Another excerpt from the Art and Design Dimensions feature. Here, I discuss how MapBee projects use interactive exhibitions, outdoor museums, and other strategies to spark connection and illuminate larger social purposes beyond traditional architecture.
About My Philosophy & Voice
When you look at my work, you are seeing the result of an ongoing inquiry into how spaces can function as living ecosystems. I do not believe in a fixed signature style that imposes itself on a site, but rather in a methodology that allows the context, history, and community to guide the design.
My journey began at CEPT in Ahmedabad, where I learned that architecture is not merely about construction. It is about art, space, and people. Since setting up my studio in 2000, I have consistently challenged the notion of a fixed signature style. Instead, I treat every project as a unique ecosystem where materials are celebrated for their inherent honesty and authenticity.
In my urban design work through the MapBee collective, I focus on transient architectural gestures that spark impactful change. Whether I am working on an adaptive reuse project to preserve history or designing a school that nurtures learning, the goal remains the same. I aim to create spaces that facilitate social energy exchange. My approach to context-aware architecture integrates landscape design and building transformation as one connected system.
If you are seeking an architect who balances the technical precision of civil requirements with a philosophical commitment to the community, my practice offers a space for that exploration. We engage in deep dialogue with our clients, moving beyond the surface to find a leitmotif that resonates with the specific site and the people who will inhabit it. Every building I design is a call to connect, reflect, and reside.
