About Interior & Product Design
How I See Design
Design for me is never separate from art, architecture, or the land it sits on. I look for the stories every space can tell, whether it’s a home that feels lived-in or a gallery that’s full of new ideas. It’s all about finding the details that matter, from first sketch to final build.
Spaces That Feel Real
Homes should hold memories, like the comfort of my Amma’s home. I use clean lines and honest materials - exposed concrete, wood - for a kind of sophisticated minimalism. I design homes as living galleries, always trying to connect rooms with nature and create places for your art and stories.
Adaptive, Social, and Cultural Design
Old buildings often have a lot to give, so adaptive reuse interiors are a big part of what I do. Workplaces need natural light and flexible layouts. I even designed a mobile classroom from a bus - making spaces for learning and community wherever they’re needed. For museums and exhibitions, I focus on how people move and interact, planning everything from custom display stools to lighting that shows art at its best.
Craft and Collaboration
Bespoke furniture design isn’t just a buzzword. I make custom pieces that belong to the space - like sculptural door handles or geometric pendant lights made from natural materials. My partner Nisha is an artist, so art-integrated architecture comes naturally to us. Every project starts with sketches, models, and real conversations. I work with clients, artists, and makers, building something together, not just for you.

My Story
We’re Mathew and Ghosh Architects, based out of Bengaluru. Started with a simple house for Amma back in '95, that place grew into a patchwork of memories. Sketchbook’s always with me, whether I’m doodling Le Corbusier details or dreaming up a Museum of Lament. For us, design isn’t just buildings—it’s conversations, unrealised ideas, and stories that shape spaces. We’re about drawing, talking, and keeping it real with the community.
My Work
What we do - Architecture for homes, parks, memorials, offices, schools, hotels, conservation, exhibitions, interiors, furniture, and collaborative art installations.
Collaborative design process - We team up with artists and thinkers, blurring lines between disciplines for fresh, narrative-driven architecture.
Design with a story - Our projects—be it a sustainable memorial park or a home—carry context, memory, and sometimes a bit of socio political comment.
Process and exploration - From first sketch to built space, we push adaptive reuse design, material play, and inclusive environments.
