About From Sketch to Illustration
You don't need to be an artist to start. We break down the human form into 8-head and 10-head croquis, giving you the foundation to draw professional fashion figures from day one. You will practice specific shading techniques like stippling and hatching to master how different fabrics actually drape on the body, moving from simple stick figures to full-color rendering in just a few weeks.
Illustration is the language of a fashion designer. It is where your creative vision meets technical execution. At Soul Fashion Academy, we focus on helping you communicate your ideas clearly so you can produce consistent, professional designs for your portfolio or boutique.
What You Will Master
- The Human Form: We start with 8-head and 10-head croquis. You will learn to draw the human frame accurately, which is the base for every garment you design.
- Technical Sketching: Before you stitch, you must sketch. We teach you flat sketches—the technical blueprints for garment construction—ensuring your patterns are accurate.
- Texture & Rendering: This is how you show clients the 'feel' of the fabric. You will learn to render different textures, from silk and lace to heavy cotton, using pencil shading, cross-hatching, and color techniques.
