A lineup of student work from our draping class. Each mannequin showcases a different style, from pleated bodices to wrapped skirts, all created with muslin.

These are examples of draping exercises from our Batch 3 and 4 students. You can see the variety of complex bodices and skirts they learn to create.

We explain why muslin is the fabric of choice for draping. It's an inexpensive way to resolve fitting issues and perfect a pattern before cutting into expensive final fabric.

A student carefully pins and adjusts fabric on a mannequin, practicing the precise techniques of draping a skirt.

Here, a student focuses on creating a structured, pleated bodice. This technique is essential for creating couture and formal wear.

About this collection

We insist on using muslin fabric for every draping exercise. It is an inexpensive, practical way to resolve fitting issues on the mannequin before you ever touch your final, expensive fabric. This hands-on method ensures that when you finally cut your garment, it fits perfectly—just like it should. Perfect fitting barbeku alva?

Draping is where theory meets reality. At Soul Fashion Academy, we move beyond just sketching to understanding how fabric moves around the body. When you learn to drape on a mannequin, you aren't just memorizing formulas; you are seeing how to manipulate volume, create pleats, and achieve a professional finish before a single pair of scissors touches your main fabric.

Our training modules are designed for hands-on learning at our Nelamangala campus. You will work with industrial Juki and Jack machines, gaining comfort with the equipment you will use in your own boutique or production house. From bodycon dresses to structured bodices, we teach you how to translate 2D patterns into 3D garments. We keep our batches small, so whether you are struggling with a complex wrap skirt or trying to perfect a halter neck, you get the individual attention you need to get it right.

We also prioritize the 'why' behind the design. You will learn to draft your own patterns, understand grain lines, and handle different fabric types, which are essential skills for any professional designer. Our course is not just about making one piece; it is about building the confidence to handle any custom order that comes your way. By the time you complete your project, you will have the skills to build a portfolio and start your journey as an independent designer. Idella kalibeku antha thumba varshadinda aase ittu—we are here to make sure you finally do it.

I started Soul Fashion Academy because I saw so many people—just like us—who had a deep passion for fashion but nowhere to start. We teach from experience, watching how fabric moves and falls, and we make sure every student gets the personal attention they need to find their own style.
