About The Art of the Line: Drawing & Sketching
In my studio, we keep batches small, just 4 to 8 students, so I can personally guide your hand through every line. We do not just copy pictures; we break down how light hits a surface and how to build depth, whether you are sketching a portrait or a simple still life.
Building Your Foundation
Drawing is the bedrock of all visual art. In my sessions, we start with the basics—how to hold a pencil, line quality, and pressure control. My approach is systematic; we move from simple shapes to complex forms using standard tools, progressing from HB to 10B pencils as your confidence grows.
What We Cover
- Shading & Texture: Learn the difference between hatching, cross-hatching, and blending. We explore these techniques on paper to create realistic highlights and shadows.
- Portraiture: This is a favorite for many students. We cover facial proportions, the structure of features like the nose and eyes, and how to capture expressions using graphite and charcoal.
- Medium Rotation: I guide you through different mediums, including charcoal, soft pastels, and colored pencils. Each material reacts differently to the paper, and learning to manage that interaction is key to your artistic growth.
My Approach to Classes
I teach at my studios in Prabhadevi, Powai, and Thane. Because I run small batches, you get genuine one-on-one time for stroke correction and feedback. My goal is not to produce clones, but to help you develop your own style. Whether you are a child just starting your journey or an adult finding a creative outlet after a long day, I provide the structure and support you need to improve at your own pace.
If you are preparing for government-certified Elementary and Intermediate drawing exams, I also offer dedicated coaching that covers the full curriculum, including object drawing and memory drawing basics.
