About this collection
Every hand-painted piece we create follows a deliberate process. After we finalize your design motif, we use a specialized mix of gesso for the raised 3D texture, finished with gold leaf and glass beads. This is not a simple print, but a tactile, labor-intensive art form that adds real dimension and depth to your fabric.
Our approach to fabric painting goes beyond applying color. We specialize in the traditional Thanjavur style, characterized by rich, vibrant colors and iconic compositions that stand out on any occasion. Whether it is a deity, a peacock, or intricate floral work, we treat your fabric like a canvas.
Our Process
When you request a custom design, we don't just start painting. We sit down to understand your vision, sketch the design to ensure the composition fits your garment, and then begin the construction of the art.
- Base Layer: We apply high-quality fabric paint to set the background.
- Detailing: We use traditional techniques like gold foil application and fine-line brushwork.
- Finishing: Finally, we add semi-precious beads or 3D embellishments to give the piece its characteristic Thanjavur look.
Why Choose Hand-Painted Art?
Unlike mass-produced prints, hand-painted garments are unique. Because they are done by hand, every piece has subtle variations that make it exclusively yours. We often incorporate these techniques into bridal blouses and festive sarees, ensuring your outfit reflects your personal style rather than a common pattern.
Learning at the Academy
At Soul Fashion Academy, we believe in hands-on learning. Many of the pieces you see in our gallery are created by our students under expert guidance. If you are interested in learning these techniques—from mixing the right colors to applying the gold foil—we offer structured training that helps you turn this passion into a professional skill.
Soul Fashion Academy
We started Soul Fashion Academy because we believe passion deserves to be a profession. Growing up watching tailoring work at home inspired me, and today, we pour that same heart into painting vibrant stories on fabric, one student and one custom outfit at a time.
