My Journey as a Cartoonist and Illustrator
From fixing torn book pages in my childhood village to drawing for national newspapers, my life has been one long sketch. See how my passion for cartoons began and how I bring those stories to life today.
Listen to my story of how the art *keeda* bit me. I talk about my journey from a small village in Bihar, winning my first cartoon contest, and the struggles of becoming a freelance artist in Delhi.
About My Journey as an Artist
I do not believe in generic templates or AI-generated stock art. Every caricature, portrait, or editorial cartoon I create starts with a conversation about the person or the message you want to convey. Whether it is for a farewell gift or a birthday, I work with ink, markers, and digital scans to bring out the real expressions and character quirks, not just a flat copy of a photograph.
My journey started in a small village in Samastipur. As a child, I didn't have access to art supplies, so I fixed torn book pages by carefully copying the illustrations by hand. That 'art ka keeda' (passion) never left me. In 1995, with no formal art school training, my work was selected for a Hindustan Times national contest, which eventually led to a freelance stint with their editorial team in Delhi.
Today, I balance my full-time work in graphic design with my true love: hand-drawn art. My services cover several distinct styles:
- Custom Caricatures: Perfect for birthdays, farewells, or just a unique gift. I integrate your stories, hobbies, and inside jokes into the artwork.
- Editorial Cartoons: I still draw for newspapers and websites, reacting to news and social issues with strong lines and clear messages.
- Hand-Painted Illustrations: For something more physical, I offer acrylic and oil paintings on A4 or A3 sheets, focusing on texture and realistic shading.
My process is straightforward. We start with a concept, I create a rough sketch for your approval, and then we finalize the details. I offer unlimited revisions on digital sketches and up to two rounds on physical paintings to ensure the final piece is exactly what you imagined. Whether it is a political commentary or a tribute to a loved one, my goal is to make people stop, think, or smile.
