Creative & Media Workspaces Design
We design offices where the architecture itself fuels the creative process. By merging natural light, intuitive layouts, and pockets of calm, we build environments that help publishers, filmmakers, and creators do their best work.
The Nirvana Films Studio in Bengaluru is designed to dissolve the boundaries between inside and out. The building's transparent facade and operable louvres allow the workspace to be immersed in the surrounding trees, creating a tranquil and inspiring atmosphere for a creative ad film company.
A central staircase slices through the Nirvana Films building, acting as a visual and physical connector between floors. This design choice encourages spontaneous encounters and conversations, reflecting our belief that connection is crucial for generating new ideas in a collaborative workspace.
The reception at the Penguin India office immediately sets a narrative tone. A custom-designed screen made of book-like modules, some featuring the iconic dancing penguin, creates a playful yet sophisticated welcome for a company dedicated to the world of literature.
We designed the Penguin India office with a variety of seating options to support different work styles. This high-top coffee bar provides a casual spot for quick meetings or focused work, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that reinforce the company's literary identity.
The central staircase at Nirvana Films is more than just for circulation; it's a sculpture of wood and concrete bathed in natural light from a skylight above. The wall art depicting human figures in motion adds a dynamic layer to the space, celebrating the creative energy within.
Light and material play a crucial role in our designs. Here, sunlight grazes a raw concrete wall, highlighting its texture, while a floating staircase with wooden treads adds warmth and lightness to the structure, creating a balanced and serene entryway.
This video captures the unique, playful, and deeply connected culture that our architecture helped foster at Nirvana Films. The space is designed to be a backdrop for life and creativity, not just work, embodying our philosophy of building living, breathing environments.
In the Penguin India office, we created serene, library-like zones for focused work and contemplation. Surrounded by books and bathed in soft, natural light, these spaces provide a quiet retreat within the larger, more collaborative office environment.
This axonometric view of the Penguin India office shows our strategic space planning. We organized the layout to include an amphitheater, coffee bar, flexible seating, and personal "verandah" spaces to create a dynamic and interactive environment that users can make their own.
This video details the design process for the Penguin India hybrid workspace. It shows how we transformed the office by focusing on creating an inclusive, purposeful, and interactive environment centered around the core of their business: books and the people who create them.
About Creative & Media Workspaces
Architecture changes how people interact, not just how they work. Take the central staircase at Nirvana Films; it is not just for moving between floors. It is an open, light-filled artery that slows people down, making those quick, unplanned conversations that spark the next big idea possible. This is how we approach every design—creating structural bridges that connect the people inside.
For a creative or media workspace, the building must do more than house equipment; it must facilitate the flow of ideas. Whether we are designing for a publishing house like Penguin India or a film studio like Nirvana, our process begins with understanding the specific rhythm of the team. We avoid rigid, box-like structures. Instead, we introduce elements like internal courtyards, skylights, and amphitheatres that encourage collaboration.
At the Penguin India office, the design celebrates the act of storytelling. The library-like zones provide quiet for deep focus, while the high-top coffee bars are strategically placed to encourage social exchange. We used custom-designed book-like modules to create a brand-specific identity that feels personal and grounded.
Similarly, at Nirvana Films, we focused on blurring the boundary between the workspace and the surrounding landscape. By using operable louvres and glass facades, we bring the trees inside, ensuring that the staff is never disconnected from nature. This is not about adding greenery as a decoration; it is about using sun-path analysis to ensure natural light reaches deep into the floor plate, reducing reliance on artificial systems and creating a space that feels alive.
Our approach is highly collaborative. We iterate on models, mock up material textures, and work closely with craftspeople to ensure the final environment is not only functional but also possesses a distinct character. When you engage us, you are not buying a standard office layout; you are partnering with us to build a container for your own company culture.
