Modular Masonry & Grid Facades
Design & Concept
- Geometric Pattern Generation: Custom grid layouts (Tetris-style or Jali patterns) designed using standard masonry units like fly ash bricks or cement blocks.
- Material Sourcing: Identification of cost-effective local materials (such as bumper tiles or repurposed wood) that add aesthetic value.
- Privacy & Light Modeling: 3D analysis to determine exact angles for light filtration while blocking direct views from neighbors.
Technical Documentation
- Masonry Bond Details: Specific drawings instructing contractors on stacking patterns, mortar thickness, and joint details.
- Structural Anchoring: Engineering details for tying the screen wall to the main RCC beams or lintels.
- Fenestration Alignment: Precise integration of window openings within the screen module for ventilation.
Execution Support
- Mock-up Supervision: On-site review of a 4x4 ft test patch to verify mortar consistency and material finish.
- Alignment Checks: 4 to 6 scheduled site visits to ensure the grid remains straight during the construction phase.
Custom Engineered & R&D Facades
R&D and Material Innovation
- Custom Material Engineering: Development of unique blends, such as re-engineered sandstone with resin or specific metal alloys.
- Prototyping & Testing: Creation of 1:1 scale physical mock-ups to test durability, wind resistance, and weathering.
- Climate Engineering: Advanced simulations for airflow and thermal shielding to ensure the facade actively cools the building.
Advanced Documentation
- Fabrication Files: CAD/CAM files prepared specifically for CNC cutting, laser cutting, or casting molds.
- Structural Integration: Coordination to turn facade elements, like louvers or parapets, into load-bearing or self-supporting members.
- Lighting Integration: Detailing for concealed lighting within facade layers to alter night-time appearance.
Project Management
- Fabricator Coordination: Direct collaboration with metal workers and stone cutters to ensure manufacturability.
- Quality Control: Scheduled check-ins during installation to monitor the finish of bespoke elements.
- Cost Control: Detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) to track and manage custom fabrication expenses.
About Facade Design & Material Innovation
The Spirit Behind Our Facades
For us, a facade is the building's face - the first thing people notice. It's not just about looks, but about how a building speaks to its surroundings, shields those inside, and adapts to the world outside. Every project pushes us to think, "Yeh building sach mein yahan belong karti hai ya nahi?" (Does this building truly belong here or not?)
Our Way of Working
- Every facade is custom - no templates, no shortcuts.
- We study the site, climate, and even things like local wildlife (haan, bandar bhi) to shape the design.
- Privacy, airflow, and light matter as much as style. Sometimes, that means chunky screens that block views but let in a soft glow. Or using folded metal panels to cool down a house in May ka tapta hua dhoop (the blazing May sun).
- Always looking for climate responsive facades that make life inside easier, not just fancier.
Playing with Materials
- We like to experiment. Old tricks with new twists - like mixing daal paste and jaggery with stone for stronger, detailed work.
- Fancy doesn’t mean expensive. Even ₹7 bumper tiles, when used right, can look damn cool.
- Waste wood? Why not. We turn it into panels, furniture, sometimes even art.
- We believe in sustainable facade solutions, not just for the planet, but because jugaad (resourcefulness) is part of who we are.
Some Facade Stories
- Hapur: A rugged, layered shield against pollution and monkeys. At night, it glows softly - not flashy, just warm.
- Meerut: Concrete block screens filter the street chaos but fill the home with light. Pure adaptive building skins - tough from outside, gentle inside.
- Stone Print Villa: Traditional Jaisalmer stone, but cut and treated to do things you rarely see, mixed with CNC resin for a breathable, beautiful surface.
If you're after something that's both practical and experimental, we're always up for a challenge.

My Story
We’re Surbhi and Deepanshu, and SIAN Architects is just us chasing ideas, mixing old-school tricks with new ones. A building, for us, isn’t only walls - it’s a chat between land, stone, and the people inside. Sometimes we’re playing with Jaisalmer stone and jaggery, sometimes printing Ranthambore party scenes on wood. Magazines and events? Cool, but we’re happiest when a garden grows in a home we helped shape. That’s the real story.
My Work
What We Do - We design context-sensitive architecture, heritage home renovation, wildlife retreats, hospitality interiors, and bespoke landscape design.
We Start With the Land - Every project begins with listening to the site, letting the surroundings guide the design. Architecture follows nature’s rhythm.
Materials That Hold Memory - We use everything from thatch and stone to CNC panels, picking materials that feel personal and carry stories.
Homes for Real Living - We love clients who want homes full of laughter, layered stories, and spaces that feel truly lived-in.
