Hand Embroidery and Goan Cross Stitch Classes
Join my intimate classes in Goregaon East to master the delicate art of hand embroidery and traditional cross stitch, even if you are picking up a needle for the first time.
Look at the detail you can create with just a needle and thread. In my hand embroidery workshop, I teach you stitches like this, turning a simple piece of cloth into a beautiful floral artwork. It’s a wonderfully calming process.

A vibrant floral vine embroidered onto a bright blue fabric. This piece showcases how different stitches, like the satin stitch for flowers and stem stitch for vines, can be combined to create a dynamic design.
This is the full view of the embroidered blue fabric, showing how a corner pattern can be mirrored to create a balanced and beautiful design for a tablecloth or cushion cover.
My hand embroidery classes for beginners provide you with all the tools you need to start. This flat lay shows the essentials: an embroidery hoop, colorful threads, scissors, and a sample project.
I also teach the unique Goan style of cross stitch. This image gives you a glimpse of the class, where you can learn this traditional craft from the very basics in my weekend or weekday batches.
A simple yet beautiful example of cross stitch, featuring a Calla Lily flower. This technique uses X-shaped stitches to form a picture, and it's a very relaxing and meditative craft to learn.
Here are two examples of cross stitch patterns you can learn. On the left is a delicate floral border, and on the right, a geometric star motif, showing the versatility of this art form.
About Hand Embroidery & Cross Stitch Creations
In my studio, I limit batches to just 3-5 students. This ensures I can sit with you to check your fabric tension and hand placement personally during every session, because the most crucial part of embroidery isn't the design—it's learning how to hold your hoop and needle without straining your hands.
Finding Joy in Every Stitch
I believe that embroidery is more than just a technique; it is a way to find a bit of quiet in a busy city like Mumbai. Whether you are coming to my Goregaon East studio to learn the classic satin stitch or curious about the rhythmic, geometric patterns of traditional Goan cross stitch, my goal is the same: to help you slow down and find joy in the process.
What You Will Learn
My workshops are designed for complete beginners. We move at a pace that is comfortable for you, not a rigid schedule.
- Hand Embroidery: We start with the basics of mounting your fabric on the hoop so it is drum-tight. You will learn 10-12 essential stitches, including the lazy daisy, French knots, and stem stitch, which are perfect for creating floral patterns on cushions, tablecloths, or wall art.
- Goan Cross Stitch: This is a unique style that relies on counting threads on Matty cloth. It is incredibly meditative because it requires focus and patience. I will teach you how to read grid charts and translate those symbols into beautiful, precise patterns.
Class Logistics
I provide all the materials, including your hoop, threads, and fabric, so you do not need to worry about sourcing supplies.
- Duration: Each course spans 12 hours of hands-on training, broken down into six 2-hour sessions.
- Schedule: I offer both weekday and weekend batches to fit your routine.
- Atmosphere: My classes are a space to relax and connect. It is quite common for us to chat while we work, and you might even pick up a few stories about traditional festival crafts along the way.
