Handmade Crochet Home Decor Classes
Transform your living space with personalized pieces that add a warm, handmade touch to every corner of your home.
This colorful Viola mandala makes a beautiful centerpiece for a table. I used knitting cotton and a 3.5mm hook to create this piece, following a lovely free pattern.
Here, the mandala serves as a decorative mat for a Ganesha statue, adding a vibrant splash of color. Mandalas are meditative projects, perfect for practicing mindfulness through crochet.

This video shows me unrolling a finished table runner in a rich chocolate brown. You can see the beautiful drape and the intricate filet crochet pattern.
This gorgeous basket is made from individual rose granny squares joined together. It's the perfect, pretty storage for my yarn, but it could be used for anything.

The finished rose basket, showing its sturdy, hexagonal shape. This is an advanced beginner project that I can guide you through.
A simple granny square makes a perfect coaster. This is one of the first projects many beginners make, and it's a quick and satisfying way to practice your stitches.
A larger granny square can be used as a placemat or a small decorative mat. This one uses a lovely combination of red, white, and a sparkly dark green yarn.
This blue and yellow doily is another example of a beautiful home decor item. The alternating puff stitches create a lovely texture and visual interest.
About Decorate Your Home with Crochet
Most of the pieces you see here are perfect entry-level projects. I usually start students with a simple coaster or mandala because they give you immediate results, help you practice stitch consistency without overwhelming you, and let you experiment with colors to match your living room's palette.
When you start creating your own home decor, the process becomes just as rewarding as the final piece. My focus in these classes is on using practical materials like knitting cotton, which provides the right amount of stiffness for items like table runners and baskets. We will cover the technical basics—like puff stitches for texture or filet crochet for that classic lace look—but we keep the atmosphere relaxed.
Why Crochet Decor?
Unlike mass-produced items, handmade decor holds a certain charm. Whether you are crafting a mandala to sit under a Ganesha statue or a sturdy basket to hold your yarn stash, you are building something that lasts. For those new to the craft, I recommend starting with small items like coasters. They are quick to finish, which provides a sense of accomplishment, and they are forgiving if you need to fix a dropped stitch.
What You Will Master
- Textured Stitches: We explore 3D elements like puff stitches and picot edges, which give doilies and mandalas that beautiful, sculptural quality.
- Structural Work: For baskets and storage items, we focus on tension and construction methods that keep your work standing firm.
- Pattern Reading: You will learn to decipher charts, which opens up a world of free patterns available online.
