About this collection
Our journey started at IIM Bangalore with a simple question: how do we make Indian classical music feel like home for the next generation? Today, that seed has grown into a community of hundreds, marked by recognition from the ISEED Foundation and LIC HFL, but the real award is seeing our students celebrate their first raag with pure joy.
Building ShrotaHouse was never about creating a conventional music school. It was about filling a void I felt growing up, the need for a space where our Shastriya Sangeet could be felt, touched, and understood by children without the weight of strict exams.
Our path took us from incubated ideation at IIM Bangalore to real-world workshops across Bengaluru, and eventually, our first outstation tour in Chennai. Every step has been driven by our 'Shrotagan', the families who turned up, participated, and kept us going. Being recognized as a 'Social Trailblazer' by the ISEED Foundation and LIC HFL validated that our play-based approach to music education was working.
But for us, the milestones are not just the awards or the media mentions. The true measure of our success is the 11-stop Musical Book Tour, the stories of parents rediscovering their own inner musician during our Jaltarang camps, and students like Dhruv winning classical music accolades. We are not just teaching notes; we are nurturing a generation to keep the sounds of Bharat alive. Whether we are in a preschool in Koramangala or an art cafe in Whitefield, our goal remains the same: to create a safe, joyful parivar where every child feels like a musical star.
ShrotaHouse
I am Madhumita, and for me, Indian Art Music is a return to home. Through ShrotaHouse, I am building a 'Shrotagan'—a family where kids and parents bond over the magic of the tabla, sitar, and song.
