Meet the Team Bringing Indian Music to Life

At ShrotaHouse, our team of musicians, educators, and parents are united by one goal: making Indian art music a joyful part of your child's daily life.

Here I am, humming one of my favorite tunes on a lovely Friday. Music is not just what we teach; it is a part of who we are, woven into the fabric of our daily lives.

A memorable start to the new year, meeting one of the living legends of Indian art music, Vid. Dr. Sriram Parasuram. I am forever a student, always curious and eager to learn from the masters.

Sometimes you sing, and other times, you sing more! A quiet moment of singing for myself, inspired by the pure joy I see in my little students every day.

This is what my Friday looks like: laptops and musical feels. The inspiration I get from our little ones at ShrotaHouse fuels both my work and my art.

On World Music Day and International Yoga Day, I find my center with my Tanpura. Both music and yoga are profound pursuits of self-discovery, and I am grateful for them.

A clip from one of my vocal performances of Raag Multani. I feel lucky to have the guidance of my Guru and to see my own son developing a patient love for the art by being with me.

As we turn two, I am so excited to share our journey and our upcoming special events. Thank you for being a part of our growing parivar. Stay musical and join our band!

About this collection

Our team isn't just a group of instructors; we’re a collection of performers, educators, and parents who treat every child’s first notes on a tabla or violin like a celebration. We avoid rigid, syllabus-heavy training, choosing instead to bring in guest musicians and facilitators who actually know how to engage with children, making our sessions feel more like a messy, musical playground than a formal classroom.

When we started ShrotaHouse, the idea was simple: build a parivar, not just a school. The people you see in our gallery—and the many musicians who join our workshops—are all here because they believe that Indian classical music belongs in the home, not just on a concert stage.

Our instructors aren't just experts in Hindustani or Carnatic styles; they are storytellers. Whether it’s an artist leading a Jaltarang session in Koramangala or a vocalist introducing Raag Multani to curious kids, the focus is always on connection. We actively look for facilitators who bring both technical excellence and patience, ensuring that a 3-year-old’s first touch of an instrument is treated with the same respect as a professional recital.

We also believe in transparency and shared learning. Many of our team members are parents themselves, which is why our classes are designed for dual participation. You won’t see us sitting behind desks. You’ll find us on floor mats, surrounded by activity books like 'Color & Learn with Little Bajo!', clay modeling kits, and instruments.

Our journey from an IIM Bangalore incubation project to a community spread across Bangalore’s preschools and art studios has been defined by the people who joined us along the way. If you’re curious about our approach or want to see if our teaching style fits your child, we’re always happy to chat about our methods, our instruments, and how we keep the joy alive in every session.

I’m Madhumita, and alongside our team of passionate musicians and educators, I built ShrotaHouse to be the home for music I always wanted for my own family. We believe in learning through play, where every child’s curiosity is nurtured by mentors who are as much friends as they are teachers.
