About Watercolor Portraits & Figures
In my classes, we don't just copy reference photos. We focus on skin tone layering, understanding bone structure, and capturing the story behind the face. You will learn to move beyond flat colors to create depth, whether you are painting a local market musician or a studio portrait.
Watercolor is unforgiving when it comes to skin tones and facial structure. One wrong wash can lose the character of the subject. In my portrait and figure workshops, we strip away the intimidation. We start with the basics—pencil sketching to understand anatomy—before introducing washes. Whether it is a traditional turbaned man or a candid figure in a sari, the goal remains the same: honesty.
I teach you to observe light and shadow patterns. We look at how skin reacts to light, how to paint expressive eyes, and why less is often more. For those joining my live online sessions, we break down these complex figures into manageable steps. You get to watch me paint live, seeing exactly how I mix colors on the palette and handle the brush pressure in real-time.
Stop copying others. If you take my class, you paint your own path. My goal is for you to develop a signature style, not just replicate a tutorial. We cover everything from figure composition to the subtle textures of traditional Indian attire. If you are ready to move past generic tutorials and want to study art properly, let’s talk.
