My Art Teaching Philosophy
For me, art is not about perfect lines. It is a space to breathe, connect, and discover who you are through the simple joy of creating.
Being creative is not just a hobby for me; it is a way of life. I started teaching in 1988, and my journey has taught me that everyone has an artist inside them. My greatest joy is helping people discover that for themselves in my art studio.
In this video, I talk about why art is so important, especially for adults. It is a way to discover a new hobby, connect with the child within you, and even meditate. Art provides motivation and a feeling of accomplishment that is truly special.
About My Teaching Philosophy
Most people worry they cannot draw, but in my studio, that is exactly where we start. My sessions are not about learning strict techniques to copy a reference image, but about understanding which materials help you express what you feel, whether that is coffee painting for mindfulness or clay for tactile relief.
When you step into my studio, leave the pressure of doing it right at the door. I have been teaching since 1988, and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that art is a safar (journey), not a race.
My Approach to Your Creative Journey
Whether you are joining for a corporate team-building event or a personal art class, my goal remains the same: to help you find your voice. We skip the strict academic drills and focus on the khushi (joy) of the process.
Why This Philosophy Matters
- It is Therapeutic: Art acts as a release. We use mediums like coffee for painting and mud for sculpting because they ground you.
- Process Over Product: You might come in thinking you need to make a masterpiece, but you will leave with something much better—a sense of calm.
- For Everyone: From corporate teams needing a stress-relief break to individuals looking for a new hobby, no prior experience is needed.
I work with psychologists for wellness sessions and with schools for portfolio prep, but the foundation is always the same kindness. If you have been looking for an art teacher who listens rather than judges, let us connect and see where your creativity takes you.
Shefali Raj
I have been teaching art since 1988, and honestly, the students are the ones teaching me. My studio is a space to shed your worries, explore colors, and find that inner artist with no experience required.
