A look into my world of choreography and music. Here is the scale, emotion, and deep-rooted tradition behind my stage productions and compositions.

This is a moment from my large-scale production, '18 Days: Dusk of an Era'. As the director and choreographer, my goal is to create visually stunning and emotionally resonant scenes that bring ancient stories like the Mahabharata to life for a modern audience.

For me, Kathak is a form of active meditation, a way to find stillness in motion. This solo performance explores the concept of 'Sukoon' or peace, showcasing the expressive potential of classical dance to quiet the noise of the outside world.

The foundation of my choreography is rhythm. Here in the studio, I am reciting a complex 'paran' or rhythmic composition dedicated to Lord Shiva, built from ancient syllables. This is the raw material from which I build the musical and choreographic structure for a performance.

It was an honor to have Aamir Khan attend our '18 Days' production. Hearing him describe the performance as a trance-like experience was a deeply fulfilling moment for me and the entire cast, affirming that our work connected with the audience on a profound level.

Capturing the raw emotion of the Mahabharata is central to my work. This dynamic scene portrays the fall of Abhimanyu, a moment of intense action and tragedy, choreographed to convey the story's power through movement and stagecraft.

My creative process is one of constant refinement. In the studio, I believe in two essential tools: a mirror to see what needs correction, and a dustbin to discard what isn't working. This is a glimpse into a rehearsal, where ideas are shaped and polished.

I see myself as a storyteller, using the 'Harikatha' tradition to make ancient knowledge accessible. In this short talk, I explain the meaning of the 'Upakarma' ceremony in Sanskrit, connecting our rituals to the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.

Inspiration can strike anywhere. Surrounded by the snow-capped mountains that felt like Kailasa, I was moved to compose this 'Sarveshwara Stotram', an ode to Lord Shiva. This is how I blend my study of shastra with the world around me to create new music.

About Featured

When I work on a production, I do not rely on synthetic MIDI tracks. Every composition is recorded with live classical musicians—vocalists, percussionists, and instrumentalists—to ensure the sound carries the genuine 'rasa' (essence) required for the stage. If you are planning a performance, let us discuss the instrumentation that will bring your story to life.
