About Divine Wall Panels
We carve these panels from solid, seasoned Vakai or country wood to ensure long-term durability, prioritising deep relief over speed. Because we use traditional hand-chisels rather than machines, the figures have a distinct 3D quality that catches light and shadow. Whether you choose natural raw wood or our traditional polychrome finish, please note that these are heavy, solid pieces that require secure wall anchoring, not just simple nails.
Our panels are a tangible piece of our ancestral tradition in Thammampatty. When you look at our relief work, you are seeing the result of hours of work with hand-chisels, which allows for a level of detail and depth that machines simply cannot replicate.
Material and Durability
We work with seasoned hardwood, specifically selected for its ability to retain detail without splitting over time. Each panel is treated against termites as a standard part of our process. Depending on the design, these panels weigh between 15 and 35 kg, so we include heavy-duty hooks for mounting. If you are placing a panel on a dry-wall or a hollow partition, please ensure you use appropriate bolt anchoring to support the weight.
Design Themes
Our most popular panels tell the stories of Dasavatharam, Ashta Lakshmi, or Meenakshi Thirukalyanam. We offer these in both horizontal formats, ideal for placing above a console or entrance, and vertical panels that can flank a doorway.
Choosing Your Finish
- Raw Wood/Wax Polish: This option highlights the natural grain and the precision of the chisel marks. It is best for minimalist or classic wooden interiors.
- Polychrome (Painted): We use traditional temple-style pigments to bring the figures to life. This finish is perfect if you want the panel to be a vibrant focal point in the room.
Since everything we make is handcrafted, we do not work from pre-existing stock that has been sitting on a shelf. We carve your piece after receiving your order, ensuring it meets our GI-certification standards.
