About Pillars, Doorways & Pooja Mandapams

For our 8-foot Chettinad pillars, we craft them in three interlocking parts, the base, shaft, and capital, to ensure safe transit. You will need a local carpenter to perform the final mortise and tenon joinery on-site, a standard procedure for these traditional elements that ensures they stand sturdy against your floor and ceiling.

Our architectural elements are built to last using seasoned Vagai or Country Wood, chosen for its strength and ability to hold fine detail. Because we are preserving the traditional Chettinad style, every pillar and doorway frame is chemically treated to be termite-resistant before it leaves our workshop in Thammampatty.

Why GI-Certification Matters

Our work carries the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which serves as an official guarantee that your piece was created using the authentic techniques passed down through generations in Thammampatty. When you select a mandapam or a door frame from us, you are not buying a factory-made item. You are acquiring a piece of South Indian temple history.

Material and Assembly

We prioritize structural integrity. Our mandapams are constructed from heavy, solid wood slabs, often featuring high-relief carvings of Yaali or floral motifs that are hand-chiseled rather than machine-routed. Because of the size and weight of these pieces, which can range from 15 to 35 kg for panels and up to 68,000 INR for pillars, we use reinforced wooden crates for all shipments. This packaging strategy minimizes damage during transit. Whether you are outfitting a dedicated prayer room or looking for a grand entrance, our pieces are designed to anchor your space with tradition.
