The Indie Advantage: Smart, Loyal and Loving Indian Breeds
People often assume that street dogs are not as trainable or 'fancy' as foreign breeds. I disagree. Spend five minutes at Second Home, and you will see that our Indies are the most disciplined, intelligent, and loving family members you could ever ask for.
Look at this, bhaiyon. The Indie group is having a top secret meeting. You will never see this kind of calm, collective behavior with many breed dogs. This is the unique quality of our Indies; they have a deep sense of community.
People ask me why I always push for adopting Indies. The bond you create when you rescue a dog in need is different, it's pure love. Indies are intelligent, loyal, and so trainable, they make the best family dogs.

I feel so happy to see so many Indies at our center. People used to think we only catered to breed dogs, but our doors are always open for our desi dogs. They bring so much joy and character to our home.
This video shows the playful and attention loving side of our Indie dogs. They are smart, funny, and these priceless moments of madness and fun are what make life with them so beautiful.
Did you know this majestic dog is an Indian breed? This is a Mudhol Hound, also known as a Caravan Hound, from Karnataka. They are known for their hunting skills, intelligence, and loyalty.
Let me introduce you to the Rajapalayam, a majestic white Indian dog breed from Tamil Nadu. With their white coat and pink nose, they are not only beautiful but also loyal, playful, and excellent guard dogs.
About this collection
You will often find our Indies sitting together in a group, almost like they are having a quiet, secret meeting. It is a level of communal calm I rarely see in other breeds. If you want a dog that does not just live with you but actually understands your family rhythm, you need to meet these guys.
There is a massive misconception that Indian street dogs, or Indies, are wild or difficult to manage. The truth is quite the opposite. My experience over the last six years running Second Home has shown me that these dogs are highly adaptable, fiercely loyal, and surprisingly easy to train compared to many high-maintenance purebreds.
We have hosted everything from the majestic Mudhol Hound, known for its incredible speed and history in Indian folklore, to the Rajapalayam, a classic guard dog from Tamil Nadu with a personality to match. Even our 'standard' Indie mixes carry the resilience of generations of street survival, which makes them incredibly street-smart and socially intelligent inside a home.
At our facilities in Sector 4, HSR Layout, and Parappana Agrahara, we focus on cage-free living. This allows the dogs to socialize naturally. You do not see the aggression or the anxiety often reported in kennel-raised dogs because our pack environment enforces a natural hierarchy. When you adopt an Indie, you are not just getting a pet. You are getting a partner who is used to navigating the world, and that makes them exceptional companions for Indian households. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a calm senior dog to lounge with, I encourage you to look at our rescue list before you consider shopping for a breed. There is a special kind of love in a rescue that you simply cannot buy.

I am Prakash, and everyone calls me 'the dog dad' for a reason. I do not run a kennel; I run a parivaar where every Indie gets the love they deserve. My mission is simple: to show you that a rescue is not just a dog, it is a soul that will change your life.
