Corrective Pilates for Posture and Pain Relief
If your desk job is wreaking havoc on your back, we need to talk. I design specific movement patterns to fix your posture and stop that chronic ache using science-backed Pilates.
With work-from-home culture, thoracic spine stiffness is common. Here, I'm guiding a client through a shoulder and thoracic extension exercise to open up the back, correct a kyphotic posture, and keep the spine healthy.
This is a tendon stretch on the reformer. It's a deep stretch for the entire posterior chain, from the heels to the spine, which is essential for improving flexibility and relieving tightness.
This client is performing a long stretch on the reformer. This is a foundational Pilates exercise that builds incredible full-body strength, focusing on maintaining a strong plank position while moving the carriage.
About Corrective Pilates: Posture & Pain Relief
I don't just teach generic reps. If you are dealing with a desk-job slouch or persistent lower back tension, we start with a full postural assessment. You will be performing specific thoracic extensions and lumbopelvic movements that actually teach your body how to sit, stand, and move without pain.
When you walk into my Hauz Khas studio, we aren't just doing a workout. We are practicing Contrology. My approach to corrective exercise is rooted in the reality that most modern discomfort comes from how we live—hours at a desk, commuting, and repetitive movement patterns.
Whether you are managing scoliosis, recovering from an injury, or just trying to undo the damage of a sedentary job, the process is the same. We use the Reformer, Cadillac, and stability chairs to apply precise tension. This isn't about sweating for the sake of it. It is about lengthening the spine, strengthening the core, and correcting those muscle imbalances that cause your pain.
I often have clients ask if they can just do mat work at home. While mat Pilates is fantastic, if you are working through an injury or severe kyphotic posture, the added resistance of the Cadillac or the guided alignment of the Reformer makes a significant difference. It allows me to provide tactile adjustments and manual resistance that you simply cannot replicate on a floor mat.
If we work together at your home or in the studio, expect a session that feels like physical therapy but keeps your heart rate up. You will feel the burn—I promise you that—but every single movement is chosen with a specific goal in mind. We are building a body that functions better, not just one that looks different. I will push you, but it is always for your own good.
