About Landscapes & Nature Scenes
In these landscape sessions, we focus on the logic behind the color choices rather than just replicating a photo. Whether it is learning how to blend oil pastels for a glowing sunset or layering pencil shading to give a tree texture, I guide students through the process step-by-step so they understand how to build a scene from a blank page.
Landscape art is more than just drawing trees and mountains; it is a way for children to observe the world around them. When a child learns to draw a river or a mountain range, they are practicing spatial awareness and patience, which are essential skills for their overall development.
Techniques We Cover
- Color Blending: We teach how to use oil pastels to create smooth gradients—perfect for capturing the transition from a daytime sky to a twilight horizon.
- Shading & Depth: Using pencils and charcoal, we add dimension to foliage and rocky terrains, helping students understand how light sources create shadow.
- Composition Basics: We teach where to place the sun, the horizon line, and foreground elements to create a balanced piece that tells a story.
Our Teaching Approach
For students joining me in my Pitampura studio, we work on physical surfaces where tactile correction helps them perfect their grip and posture. For online students, I use a spotlight review method on Zoom, ensuring every brushstroke is visible and correctable in real-time. Whether it is a student struggling with perspective or one who needs help with color mixing, I ensure no child feels stuck. Mistakes are welcome in my class because that is where the real learning happens.
