About Karate Training
My Take on Karate
I've been teaching Goju-Ryu karate since 1980. For me, it's not just about fighting - it's a way of life. Discipline, respect, and strength matter as much as how hard you punch. Shikshak ka sammaan (respect for the teacher) runs deep here, sometimes even above maa baap (parents). That's the tradition I hold close.
Who Fits In Here
You’re welcome, whatever your age. I train kids as young as four, teens, adults up to sixty plus - all under one roof. Our youngest ones get a fun start, teens get a space to channel their energy, and adults prove it’s never too late. Everyone grows at their own pace.
What Training Feels Like
We follow traditional Okinawan karate routines. You’ll start with basics - stances, punches, kicks, blocks. Then, kata (silent story in motion) comes in, where you learn forms from Gekisai Dai Ichi to Sanchin. We also dig into practical bunkai. Sparring is a big part - from safe pre-arranged drills to full-on competitive bouts.
More Than Moves
Our training isn’t just physical. I use tools like the chishi for strength. Belt progression means a lot here - every belt, up to Kuro-Obi (black belt), marks your journey. Want to compete? We’ve got our own championships and prep for state-level tournaments.
It’s a Community
We’re not just a dojo - we’re a family. Gasshuk (training camps) mix hard work with fun. Some of us even head to Okinawa to train with grandmasters. It’s tough, but you won’t be alone. Ganbatte (do your best).

My Story
I’m Rajesh Thakkar, running this academy since 1980. For me, karate isn’t just kicks and punches, it’s how you live. I’ve watched chhote bachche (little kids) come in wild, leave as black belts, some even Sensei now. Here, age doesn’t matter, heart does. We’re a family, not just an academy. We push, we laugh, we even eat together sometimes. Real win? Becoming better humans, every day.
My Work
Goju-Ryu Karate Classes (All Ages) - We teach Goju-Ryu karate to everyone, from 4-year-old kids to 60-plus. No age bar, only spirit matters.
Women's Self-Defense Workshops - Practical workshops for real-life situations. Learn what to do if someone bothers you in bus or train.
Karate Competition Training - Serious about tournaments? We prep you for local, national, even international competitions.
Traditional Karate Philosophy - 'Go' means hard, 'Ju' means soft. We teach you to be strong and gentle both, inside and outside dojo.
Community & Camps - We’re a family, not just students. Regular camps, tournaments, and lifelong friendships, not just medals.
