Our Karate Family: Community, Camps & Events
Karate-do is more than physical technique; it is a way of living shared with a community that grows together. Welcome to the heart of RTKA.
On our 43rd Anniversary, we opened a new Dojo at P.J. Hindu Gymkhana. Here, our instructors and senior members bow in respect, marking the beginning of a new chapter for our academy.
The Consul-General of Japan, Dr. Yasukata Fukahori, speaks at the inauguration of our 17th dojo. He beautifully connects the spiritual depth of Indian philosophy with Japanese Zen and the art of karate.
Our team leaves for Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. These trips are a unique opportunity for our students to train under grandmasters like Hanshi Morio Higaonna and immerse themselves in the art's history and culture.
A glimpse into our 86th Karate training camp at Zara's Resort, Khandala. Five days of intense training, discipline, and camaraderie under the guidance of Kyoshi Sensei Rajesh Thakkar.
Friendship Day celebrations in the dojo. We believe that the bonds forged through training together are some of the strongest, and we always make time for fun and laughter.
From heartfelt words to creative art, we are deeply grateful for the messages from our students on Teacher's Day. These cards are a beautiful reminder of the special bond between a teacher and a student.
"You all are the BEST!" A handwritten note from a student expressing gratitude to the entire team of senseis. This is what our karate family is all about.
We were honored to have actor Ajay Devgn and his son Yug, one of our students, join us. It's a joy to see families share a passion for karate and to be part of their journey.
A special day for our academy as we collaborated with Sony Pictures for the "Karate Kid Legends" movie promo. Our students had the incredible opportunity to be part of this exciting event with Ajay Devgn.
The excitement is real! Our students can't wait to see the new "Karate Kid Legends" movie after being part of the promotional event. These experiences create lasting memories for our karate kids.
About Our Karate Family: Community, Camps & Events
Whether we are pushing our limits at our annual Gasshuku camps in Khandala or celebrating festivals like Gudi Padwa at the dojo, we believe the strongest bonds are forged on the mat. You are joining more than a training facility; you are entering a community that cheers for your progress, respects your journey, and supports your growth both inside and outside the dojo.
For over four decades, since 1980, we have operated with a simple philosophy: Goju-Ryu is a way of life, and that life is meant to be shared. Our community is the foundation of everything we do.
The Power of Gasshuku
Our annual training camps, or Gasshuku, are the heartbeat of our academy. Five days away from the city in places like Khandala, where the focus shifts entirely to discipline, strength, and camaraderie. These are not just drills; they are immersive experiences where students of all ages live, eat, and train together. It is where a white belt learns from a black belt and where friendships form that last long after the training ends.
Beyond the Dojo
We believe in creating memories that define the spirit of Karate-do. From hosting dojo inaugurations with esteemed guests to collaborating on exciting projects like the 'Karate Kid Legends' promotional launch with Ajay Devgn, we ensure our students are part of something larger. We celebrate Teacher's Day with deep gratitude and keep the energy high during every festival.
Why Join Our Family?
When you train with us, you are not just a student in a batch of 20 or 40. You are part of a lineage that traces back to traditional Okinawan roots. We have taken teams to train directly under grandmasters in Okinawa, Japan, bridging the spiritual gap between Indian philosophy and Japanese Zen. Whether you are four or sixty, you have a place here to test your spirit, learn respect, and discover the fighter within you. Ganbatte (do your best), and join us as we grow, one punch at a time.
Rajesh Thakkar's Karate Academy
I am Rajesh Thakkar. For me, this academy is a second home where we don't just teach karate; we raise a family that supports you through every belt and every hardship. We are here to help you build character as strong as your punch.
